>b-b-b-but its because of MUH AI!
A controller doesnt have AI parts like memory in it.

Why does steam hate its userbase so much?

The steam machine just made them go mask off as being greedy.
>>
Steam is a luxury brand like apple
>>
Relative to Microsoft, Sony, and Nintendo's premium offerings, it's priced incredibly well
Relative to chinese third parties, it's hard to justify unless you have a defined use case for touchpads or capacitive stick caps and grips

But that's only 50% the price of an Xbox Elite Series 2 controller.

>whataboutism
>>
>>741828245
Did you not see the Valve Index or the Steam Deck? Is this your first time opening Steam? Just like those other times, people who want it will buy it, and people who don't won't. And by no metric were those other products 'successful' either.
>>
>>741828517
Same with the PS5 pro controller. And that one runs out of battery by the time you hit the main menu
>>
>>741828397
Relative to xbox series X, the steam machine is priced over $900 more with tax while being 1.5x less powerful

I'd say its a pretty big achievement to be that greedy with the price and or specs for it to be worse than microsoft and fucking bill gates consoles.

Steam machine is hurting valves image big time, it makes people not have faith in valve or steamOS.

Forget any excuse they use to say why it cant be priced lowered, its hurting valves brand image and optics massively.

The question is in a couple months when this shit show is over, are they going to play the blame game or admit they fucked up and got too greedy. Because we all know a price tag of $1200 with a controller ISN'T because of AI
>>
>>741828762
reddit spacing retard

>Forget any excuse they use
So ignore any arguments that may prove you wrong? Sounds exactly like something a reddit faggot would say.
>>
>>741828692
I upgraded my DualSense Edges with larger batteries.
>>
>>741829657
there's no excuse they can use to explain away a $1200 price tag.

Its $300 hardware with whatever they bought in bulk. Its weaker than an xbox series S

You sound mad considering no one will buy this scam lmao.
>>
>>741828245
that's what premium controllers cost
but I got vader 5 pro with charging dock for same price
>>
A lot normies dont know that pretty much every console ever has been sold at a loss with the plan of making the difference back on game and peripheral sales.
>>
>>741828245
I'm actually interested in it. I'll gladly pay a hundred bucks for a controller that isn't a giant piece of shit.
But, I'm going to wait and see about a year first, see what teething troubles the thing has.
>>
>>741828513
What's with retards bringing this shit up that the hardware isn't being sold at a loss? Nobody sells hardware at all loss anymore. Microsoft and Sony did that gen by gen and with the PS4 they started selling the hardware at a profit.
>>
>>741828245
Valve hardware has always been a luxury. Very high quality, very reliable, very repairable
>>
>>741830067
See >>741832619
Nintendo NEVER has sold at a loss because they actually run a business and don't have the infinite money glitch.
>>
>>741828485
>*corrupts it's own firmware*
>>
>>741828245
That's not even expensive for a controller, what are you on about?
>>
>>741833093
This is true, and that's why Nintendo consoles are a decade behind everything else in terms of tech
>>
>>741828245
99 for a premium controller is pretty normal. Xbox charges like 100-200, nintendo charges like 80 I think for the pro controller? though that doesn't really have any extra features, it's just a regular controller. haven't looked it up but I'm sure the PS5 pro or whatever is also around 100 or so. my fight stick was like, 200 lol
>>
>>741828245
Poor Gaben needs your money. He only has a few billion dollars.
>>
I want a new controller. Any recommendations on one with a dpad to the current Xbox controller? Or if anyone knows if you get a rechargable lithium battery for it, if Windows actually properly reports the current battery life?
>>
>>741828245
What? $100 for the controller?

Pretty standard price for a premium gaming controller. Whatever you do, don't look up the price of Switch 2 Pro controllers, joycons, the PS5 Pro controller, or the Xbox elite controller.
>>
>>741833960
>what are you on about?

They are holding sales for people who reserved a steam controller because they only want to sell it with their overpriced underpowered $1200 shitbox scam cube.

If you just wanted a controller, you wont get one until next year, maybe. The irony is that it has no RAM or any parts affected by AI so there should be no shortage. Which means they either under-ordered on purpose or are doing something to make sure people who only want a steam controller don't get one quickly.
>>
>>741828245
still better than everyone else, also its optional
valve has a history for dropping prices too
I got my original steam controller for $5 when they stopped production of it

other companies are shittier and give you a cheap experience for triple the products worth
>>
>>741835884
>you wont get one until next year, maybe
I'm fine with that anyways.
A year, maybe two sounds about right for it to start coming out if it's a piece of shit.
