>>741829258Because unless it is being done by proven fans who want to honor the work without inserting their own fanfiction into it, the chances are better (note I said better) that the original company will treat it with more respect than a 3rd party who either has never played it, found the original problematic, or prioritize putting their own spin and vision on it (see Bluepoint for an example).
