I've done offline installs from disc before even on the DRM'd Drive for PS5 pro. The way the phone home thing works is just having your connected at least once to PSN. All I'm saying is that once you register your PS5 slim disc drive add on onto the PS5 pro it requires only one 'phone home' to get it working which means the drive registers with Sony's server. You can pull your PS5 offline afterwards and never connect again and insert all of your games into your disc drive afterwards with no internet connection required and those games are actually on the disc. It's shit about the first step but it's still pretty close to the same idea we've always had about what a physical game actually means. Rockstar threw all of that out of the window and it means I'm not preordering this shit. Because i still know what the difference between digital and physical is. I cannot ever be hyped about a digital preorder. It's just giving them money in advance.
