>Thinking about Mario Odyssey
>Realize I haven't seen the rabbit antagonists in any other game (they're kinda ugly so I get this)
>Haven't seen cappy or the hat ghosts either despite being perfect spinoff roster filler
>None of the generics in MKWorld are from Odyssey, despite adding one or two from the other 3D games
Does that seem weird

It is strange. I thought Odyssey characters would be mainstay in all the Sports spinoffs and all, especially Cappy.
How come Rosalina easily got into everything, were it just different times?

New Donk City is Odyssey's entire legacy, apparently.

She'd already been hanging out in the MvDK games.

Rosalina was probably more popular, in fairness. She's cute. Girls like her. By extension lumas come with her as well. I'd like Cappy way more than some of the other characters they tend to include though, like get spike outta here

In a sense, but I don't feel like she's exactly an Odyssey character. She shows up in one world, but even her current design was around well before Odyssey.

New Donk City aside, it's been mostly referenced by the Mario movies thus far. The Galaxy movie had sections in the Sand Kingdom and Cascade Kingdom plus the Ruined Dragon gets summoned by Jr at the end.

Man, it's been a good while. Surprised there isn't a newer Mario game out there.
...I suppose Bowsers Fury but that was the Wii U game ported over.

No, it's just how a lot of Nintendo games work.
For some reason they do not reuse a lot of their enemy designs and gimmicks between games, there are some staples but there's like another 70% of stuff that doesn't show up and / or is replaced with new stuff.
Zelda has that too, every few games it feels different.

I guess it does help things stay fresh and new generations don't care since they didn't grew up with the previous games but I still didn't like it when I used to play video games.
