Jak failed because the characters look strange. Cartoony big feet elves with huge Disney Dumbo ears look weird. And Disney is key because Jak and Daxter were inspired by Disney's squash and stretch animation specially Aladdin which Jak resembles.

Ratchet won......until he started to imitate Disney with its graphics. Holy hell Disney inspired the death of two gaming series.

Overall I like Jak more because of nostalgia and I find the series more sovlful than Ratchet but R&C is consistently good whereas Jak can be all over the place
