South Africa is a good example of what a post apocalyptic state would look like, they are deranged and cultish as fuck. As a cynic I believe that only a minority of the human population is capable of empathy beyond surface level posturing. This is evident on social media where a large swath of the population gloats over the killings and deaths of people who go against their political sports team. I feel like without a societal structure humans will revert to a chimp like hierchy. A good example of this is the Pitcarin Islands, the people there look normal at first but their hierchy has normalized an absolutely depraved culture of rape.
