why did temple work as a giant stage, when all the others failed?
It's still way smaller than those other massive stages like New Pork City and Great Cave Offensive. It has a nice flow where you're able to corner people who like to be little shits and run away all the time. Just a good layout without too many 1-way platforms as well. It feels open. And I love floating fantasy castles. Even changing the aesthetic might ruin it for me. It's perfect.
first time novelty
>>741867260on top of this, melee didn't have the ridiculous mobility creep Brawl added, so you could actually "corner" people, and not have characters just infinite fly to safety.
>>741864676Temple doesn't work as a giant stage, because everyone just fights in the one underground section. Don't get me wrong, it's fun fighting down there, but the rest of the stage is superfluous
>>741864676The music
>>741867260this, the other were too big and temple was just the right size.
1. The lower corner2. It isn't filled with obnoxious dangerous traps, gimmicks, and stage spawns3. It's easy to traverse (good layout)Skyworld, Great Cave, and NPC are just awful, awful stages.

>>741864676>not too vertical>consists of 3 long horizontal areas so you're not constantly jumping from platform to platform
>>741867409Yeah, only about 5 characters can do the reverse hyrule jump from the bottom to the top right of the map in Melee. In Brawl, a ton more can make it, especially characters with gliding like Meta Knight.
>>741867767Nice larp anon, but there are three designated zones that true elites move between for mind games only pussies stay underground once they have more damage than their opponents.
>>741868093>>741868297Smash does such phenomenal music.
>>741868296Yeh I forgot to mention traps. It's refreshing when a stage isn't boring like battlefield, but also isn't riddled with spikes and monsters and shit
>>741864676I don’t like the new ugly graphics My nostalgia said so, Melee and Brawl rule!
>>741864676Top left sort of functions like a normal stage, top right is the shitposty "keepaway" section, and I don't need to explain or defend the bottom part. Everyone loves the gigachad cave.
>>741867260The math is solid: Ganondorf + Akuma spirit in demon style + Great Cave Offensive = HILARITY ENSUING.
>>741864676It doesnt have retarded hazards and gimmicks, the cave section is chaotic and the music is awesome
New stage design really did nosedive after Melee. I miss when people thought Poke Floats was the worst thing ever. Just about every new stage added post-Brawl is a miss, unless it's a glorified BF/FD rehash that almost can't be fucked up.
>>741869298Every game looks so washed out now. Here's an edit with better contrast compared to >>741864676
>>741869298I actually like dragging fights to the tiny little platform at the bottom.
>>741870457i'm not sure which is worse, the "1-1 HAHA IT'S LIKE I'M PLAYING A LEVEL OF A NORMAL GAME, isn't that quirky?" stages, or the "battlefield, but the background goes on an adventure" stages
>>741871309>1-1 HAHA IT'S LIKE I'M PLAYING A LEVEL OF A NORMAL GAMEThose are fine though. Hate the floating platform ones and giant maps with traps.
>>741870514Whatever you did here actually looks better than the new official (Smash 4/Ultimate) whether it’s AI or simply changing any filtering or shading.
>>741870514I think this is just an issue with Sakurai. Kirby Air Riders also looks washed-out at times. Not nearly as bad as Ultimate, but still present.
>>741864676Something that's kind of overlooked is that Temple debuted in Melee, which when people are all close together, like in the Hyrule Fight Club, the camera is as zoomed in as it ever got in the series and the action is thus more readable. You hardly feel the drawbacks of its large width. There are also no item spawns that change the camera's focus on appearance, unlike Brawl onwards which has the Smash Ball.
>>741864676I assume the triangular shape helps. The lower you go, the less room you have.
