So I just finished Yakuza 5. I really enjoyed it, but I have to say this was the most retarded story I have experienced in this franchise so far, even if I really enjoyed some parts, like Haruka's story.Now I will start 0, but I have to ask, do the other games also get this level of retarded, or are the stories better written?
5 is my favorite one. I've only played 1-5 and am on 0.
0 is generally considered the best and it's my personal favorite, but the whole series has moderate retardation deep in its genes. I think you'll have a lot of fun with it, though you might want to take a break from the series first so you don't get burned out.

Its major problem is Haruka continuing to be retarded.JE's story is great though the ending relies on somewhat of an asspull for Yagami to succeed.7's plot is fine outside of the macguffin necessary for the finale to happen which is so unbelievable I can't believe they even tried.LJ's story is fine including the twists and reveals, the main fault is just how Yagami argues his points because he harps on one specific one when so many other avenues can hammer his point home significantly better and destroy the antagonist's arguments without issues.7G's story is very solid, it just mainly makes you ask why Kiryu didn't think some things through from earlier games.8's story is terrible on Ichiban's side, fine on Kiryu's side, has an extremely retarded ending with Ichiban in particular doing some extremely dumb stuff.8G's story is fine outside of the implications it brings for the series going forward.
