Probably because it's not faux nostalgia and mostly genuine in it's approach in regards to replicating the original Vice City setting which GTA 6 fails to do. That being said there was some oversight with the licensed tracks not reflecting the era and one of the record stores has some of the wrong records in it. But it's still miles ahead of the garbage Rockstar are releasing.

I've never really liked mainline GTA games, but I enjoyed the games inpireted by it like Godfathe and Scarface and the Vice city Stories spin off a lot

It wasn't particularly good. The best part of it was the less-abstracted wanted system that Rockstar copied for GTA IV.
