The plots of the games aren't strictly dependent on each other but it was a long series of lore reveals through each game, and they all augment the overall story in their own way. By the way, don't skip Ground Zeroes. Play it before you play MGSV. It's the 1st mission of MGSV which was released separately as a teaser for the game.
