>Starfox has always been about rail shooting and conventional space combat with furries
>All of a sudden, ancient spirits, dinosaurs, and magic wielding telepaths
>Also, everything happens on one planet teehee
How do we even remake this game without it drifting so far away from the core gameplay mechanics of its predecessor?
>>
>>741885585
I found adventures to be unsettling as a kid. I think something about the environments and characters were just really uncanny. Maybe because it was an N64 game put on the cube?
>>
I loved this game as a kid
>>
I know, right? Imagine if they turned Mario into a Ghostbusters game. Or made a Donkey Kong rhythm game. Or turned Kirby into a racer. That’d never work!
>>
>>741885585
Literally the best game in the series
>>
>>741887653
the donkey kong rhythm game didn't work out though
>>
>>741887653
Those were all overt spin-offs. And in series that all had enough games to warrant a spin-off.

this, if they could give bigger role to krystal and don't scrap 90% lore from dinosaur planet
>>
>>741887912
Shit take. There's a whole bunch of reasons why the franchise went to shit after it was released, and the waifufagging is one of them

there were only 2 star fox games that existed before this one. Yes, it's a piece of shit, but the other games weren't much to talk about either.

Can't blame them for trying something different it's not like either of the previous star fox games were iconic.

I really have no clue how people think Star Fox used to be "realistic" "serious" sci-fi and then SFAd ruined it that. It must take a scary level of confidence to claim this over games that you've clearly never played.

Star Fox 64 sold absolute gangbusters and is still quoted to this day. How's your summer break?

It wasn't supposed to be a Star Fox game, it was originally made as a different game and retooled into a Star Fox game

yeah for a whole two games before Adventures released.

I'm 40 years old kid, I own it on the n64, sit down. It's a shit game, it was a shit game when I was a kid and it's shit now.
>>
>>741897932
100% skill issue (also turbo controllers are everywhere these days)
>>
>>741886441
I sort of feel this. My brother got this game, I never really like Starfox either, but I played it and it was very strange. There's a big sense of isolation and, like, malice? I'm not sure
>>
>>741897932
do people just complain about this because they were 8 at the time? I played this for the first time last month and this part and the other mashing test were both trivial
>>
>>741885585
This was cool and I used to imagine all sorts of star fox adventures where he would go to all sorts of different planets and maybe we could get the other members to join in. Like indiana jones in space. People who bitched about this are why we'll only get starfox 64 until the end of time.
>>
>>741901785
Its honestly that same sense of isolation I felt playing DK64 which is funny because rare made both, but I never felt that uncanny/malice that I got from Adventures. The lighting was dark and atmospheric from what I remember. I should honestly give it another go.
>>
>>741903402
I feel that same way about DK64. As a child I didn't have words to describe it but that whole world felt empty.

It was kind of a dark time in my life back then, because my mom didn't like me. It was a very strange feeling.

Also are you saying Starfox had dark lighting? I remember it being pretty bright, at least the sunny area where you bought things.
>>
>>741902149
Like Mass Effect but Starfox, I agree it'd be cool
>>
>>741904102
Its been YEARS since ive played it but I remember the swamp area being obviously darker and the snow area, even though it was white and bright, just felt like fake florescent light. Unnatural.
>>
It was my first star fucks and I liked it.
People say it's a zelda game, but zelda is gay because fantasy and earrings.
There should be more scifi aesthetic games in the genre of zelda-likes.
The real tragedy is that even when you get the perfect customer (me, a newcomer to the series who likes what it gave) they fuck it completely up with the ending by just throwing andross in with absolutely zero buildup or explanation of who that even is since it literally only exists as a reference to tie it into the IP.
So I can only say I like it, I don't love it, my love for it died with General Scales.
>>
>>741889241
Series benefits more if krystal doesnt appear than if she does.
>>
Star Fox Zero was suppose to retcon the series but nobody bought it.
>>
>>741885585

I thought the rape scene was in poor taste.
>>
The reality of the situation is that the Star Fox games were never good. This is the core problem with the franchise's identity.

Star Fox Adventures, however, suffers greatly from Nintendo's meddling. Rare's vision for the game, Dinosaur Planet, was a lot better.
>>
>>741885585
Hopefully it never gets remade. Let it stay in the past.

I just want to be space mercenaries fighting battles, get paid, and use that money to buy more ships and upgrades. Then use my fleet of ships in sandbox sims or wargames.

Condolences for your ban
I don't think the hollywood set thing made it feel bad, if anything those constraints made me feel curious about the outside world and what was next knowing there was purposeful design to each part.
But I also played it as a kid.
>>
>>741908493
The bait becomes less effective when you post in the same retarded ESL each time and people start to realize it's just one gay idiot saying this over and over.
>>
>>741912493
Why did fox hire the scantily clad exotic space vixen to be his personal secretary?

>>Star Fox Adventures, however, suffers greatly from Nintendo's meddling. Rare's vision for the game, Dinosaur Planet, was a lot better.
It really wasn't. We've had a substantially completed ROM of DP for years. As we explain every single time one of you Rarefags pops up again.
>>
>>741885585
Yeah, a series that had two whole games. The contract with the gamer was iron clad, how dare they experiment with spinoffs in different genres.
>>
>>741901797
literally yeah I was 8 and never got past it until I played it way later, but really I remember my dad couldn't even beat it either since he gave up on the first try and therefore never knew that there was a trick to it.
the problem is the game cheats and rubber bands you for no real reason except for rare to say "FUCK YOU, KID"
It doesn't add anything to the game it's just another poorly conceived minigame set piece like all the others they make

Kinda like how the abstract time limit on the hoverbike chase works. You mean to tell me the stupid bike doesn't have a fucking fuel gauge? The more you look at this game the more you realize every single part of it is awful... and you look at Conker and DK64 and just know they had this long string of really awful games that are carried almost entirely on novelty and nothing else. These clowns had no idea what they were doing.

You guys wanna do a cool prank? Go to the Dinosaur Planet Community Discord and post this picture. You will then see just how "inclusive" furfags are.
>>
>>741885585
>conventional space combat
I'd say its arcade combat. It is far too simplistic to be called that at all.
>>
I remember this game having particularly tasty looking pick ups. A lot of games from that era had pickups that looked like crunchy rock candy or gummies.
>>
>>741916265
i don't get the prank though. it literally wasn't timber it was some generic furshit that slightly resembled fox mcloud
>>
>>741885585

Assault fags BTFO.

>>741912493
This is what gamers want.

I would be just as happy if they never appear
>>
>>741891529
What franchise? Franchise of the first game remakes? Star fox fans don't deserve games let alone good games
>>
>>741900778
I'm not quite your decrepit age, but Star Fox 64 is only disliked by the biggest faggots on earth, but I was the target demo when it was released and I have replayed it dozens of times. It's a pure classic and none of your retardation is going to change that.
>>
>>741885585
This was the first game I pre-ordered, so I will be bias. Fox to me is more than just his arwing, this game made that true to me. It's not perfect, but for an early gamecube game, it was amazing.
>>
I'm playing this right now, and it feels like it needed more polish. The melee combat feels dragged out as enemies don't put up a fight and take too long to kill. Traversing needed to take hints from Zelda, like letting you let go of climbable walls to speed up falling to the ground. The item discovery animation is so overused. They liked the idea from Zelda, but didn't realize that the item discovery in Zelda is much more snappy and to the point. Hell, it's hilarious to see Fox unlock one of those urns for a key, and then the item discovery STILL plays after seeing the obvious from the previous animation. So many sloppy things like this could've been fixed up, but alas, the dev cycle of turning the game into a Starfox skin wearing freak and MS buying Rare really screwed the game over. I bet if the game came out as Dinosaur Planet on the 64, it would've been one of the console's last great hurrahs.

>>741915691
>It really wasn't. We've had a substantially completed ROM of DP for years.
Yea, and it's way better than Star Fox Adventures. It's basically furry Perfect Dark.
