4k is overrated. There has not been an exciting resolution jump since 1080p. Most people have 4k TVs so the steam machine will be tried on that resolution more than any other I would imagine, but you can lower it to 1080p and it will run great for everything.

And even without upscaling/frame gen memes I still think 4k is worth it, you just have to know if your PC is capable of running the games you want to run at 4k at the framerate you want.It's a shame personal computing is ungodly expensive right now because 4k monitors are actually getting a lot cheaper these days.
