>>741896665The thing about Star Fox 2 is that it is even shorter and have distinctly less replay value than OG/64. Any remake would have to make some pretty expansive changes to make it worth even $50, much less full price. There is also the fact that realistically, the RTS-esque gameplay is a big filter for people and makes it far more niche, even if it actually a good way to expand Star Fox gameplay outside of the rail shooting. A SF2 Remake in the style of SF1 just would not sell and would doom the franchise immediately.Any expansion to the SF IP still have to wrangle with the question of what people want SF as an IP. I think it very much needs to pull a Metroid and basically make 2 separate lines, Star Fox and Star Fox "Prime" where they can do all the fun experimental gameplay concepts that still honor the ideas set by the OG game, if that's even possible. Assault for all its flaws and short-ass campaign had the most idealized look at a "modern" Star Fox game where it asks you to do multiple different gameplay styles and focus heavily on on-foot gameplay. Which while anathema to rail-shooter fans, actually makes the most sense for the IP: the one where you are Star FOX and wants you to love FOX MCCLOUD. Not the Arwing...

Neither did anything as extreme as making a completely unrelated game and then swapping the main character with Samus though. I think Adventures doomed Star Fox and there is no recovery unless they do something like release Dinosaur Planet the way they did with Star Fox 2 and retcon it into a standalone unconnected game

>>741903341Funny you mention that. I looked it up, and except for Starlink, pretty much all of the in-house Star Fox games (64, 3D, and Zero) used the same voice cast that was available. It's the outsourced games (Adventures, Assault, and 2026) that used a different cast every time. I know they try to give third party companies some leeway, but I wish Nintendo would actually step up and put some quality control over a game's voice direction.
