>The industry expects another price doubling by fall 2027 on top of the 2.5x one we've already experienced
>The industry expects that $80 games will become the new norm
We are so fucked

I love hearing AAAcattle squeal

THEY are so fucked. I've got more than enough to play. They'll blink long before I do.
>>
Makes the PS3 all the more ridiculous in hindsight, that thing was $599 US dollars in 2006 when consoles were half that or less.

So? Higher prices means more gatekept normiecattle. That's a good thing.
>>
>>741897251
Be patient, grasshopper. All games cost to $20, eventually.

Imagine not pirating.

And can't even build your own computer for as cheap anymore because the ai data centers are hogging all the pc components
They'll probably push the "cloud gaming" shit even harder in not so long
>>
Again, it's on purpose to push people to cloud compute services. You're simply not going to be allowed to own a computer or a console in the near future.

>new norm
Most physical copies are 40 bucks within the first 3 months since forever. Raising the fomo tax again wont change that

This.
>it will never be out of stock due to digital distribution
>games on release are buggy as fuck and need multiple rounds of patching to be anyway decent
>DLC and other features or modes will eventually come out
>discounts will eventually kick in and save you a couple bucks if you do decide to get it
>if it's shit, you've dodged a bullet, if it's good, it will stay good by the time you get to it

You can only benefit from waiting.

>In 1985, personal computers typically cost between $1,000 and $5,000. Adjusted for inflation, that equates to roughly $3,000 to $14,000 in today's money

And? What's the problem with paying $80 for a non-essential entertainment product? The widespread adoption of AI technology has allowed companies to pay their remaining human employees better wages, so everyone's purchasing power and standard of living is increasing - and things are only going to get better. You should be able to afford $90 video games. $100 is a negligible price to pay for potentially hundreds of hours of entertainment.

My main gaming device is a Rasberry Pi so this shit barely affects me at all lol.

what can you play with that? emulators?

Emulators. Hood it up to an ancient GPU and you can emulate everything up to the Wii.
Obviously you get access to Steam and a ton of Indie games as well.

Comparing a gaming PC to a console is beyond retarded. PC offers infinitely more value than a console.

Tbf the PS3 was the better system to buy in the long run. It was HD, initially had full backwards compatibility, and supported Blu-ray, DVD, VCD, SuperCD, CDs, SD cards, Magic Sticks, and CompactFlash Card readers. Not to mention they didn't YLoD as often as the 360 did because the PS3 had better cooling. Yes it still did have the same GPU heating problems but it was not nearly as bad. Kutaragi and his team were just very good engineers. PS3's held up longer.
