i think older games despite not looking as good (debatable since they were more creative with the art style) have better stories even tho their usually janker and more difficult modern games the writing is usually less creative and have less interesting characters. even if you have a mega gaming PC that can run a modern AAA game on max graphics the novelty wears off quickly and you just want to play an interesting game. for instance the original fallouts and half life despite having janky as fuck game play that are mad grating to beat there's soul to them and beating them is more fulfilling and your left remembering the characters and plot where as modern ones its the same feeling as watching a high-budget and well-made movie that was entertaining but not really memorable
