I don’t know if it’s this new one in particular or because parry mechanics have been so prevalent now and I’m much better at them, but I remember having such a hard time parrying in the original trilogy and now I’m parrying non-stop in the demo. I didn’t even realize there was a block button until my third time playing.

You can trade up parries for Oni meter, and Oni meter for health in the demo. I'm sure there will be other Oni moves that cycle your health for other perks too.

This new gameplay got me hyped, ngl I was a little worried on how easy the demo was, but the enemies in these sections look more aggressive and encourages to use all the cool cqc options.

The new timings are definitely way too easy, especially for Issen. Chain Issen is a bit more strict but it's not like you're missing out on anything if you miss it because you can just easily issen again.
But to be fair in all of the other games issen timings vary between enemies, it's not consistent for the whole game, as it goes on it gets harder to do, so I'll give it the benefit of the doubt.

Not really but it is parryslop, don't expect to care as much about hitboxes and position as you'll care about timings. Mostly due to the new movement and sucking souls while moving, the PS2 games are very position heavy.

i at least appreciate the time they took to give Musashi actual deflect animations instead of parrying just being the protag holding a weapon in front of them and somehow a dude's 30 foot tall sword bounces right off it.
