I played both and dropped them shortly before their respective final bosses. They mostly focus on platforming over combat from what I remember (which was fine with me) but there wasn't a whole lot of exploration or different biomes probably because they are fairly short games. They were fun, try them out.

If you want a metroidvania, play Salt and Sanctuary.
