Literally just translate what the text says.
I like a lot of older videogame localizations. They're fun.

>>741905802It's not that easy, because certain terms can have no direct, literal translation in english, or the term can have more / less meanings than in english. Different grammar rules can also put a different emphasis on a sentence. Almost no language can be "literally translated 1:1" into another language. Especially not languages as distant from one another as japanese and english. In german for example, the word "laufen" can mean both "walk" and "run". A translator would have to make a decision which way to translate it. They constantly have to make these kinds of decisions for all sorts of words and expressions. And while at times context can make it obvious how to translate it, sometimes they literally just have to guess.
