Would (You) have bought the Steam Machine at its original MSRP value?
Probably not. I own a PC that shits on what most people have. I can stream my games to my TV easily. I say this as a massive fan of Valve too. It seems like a device for consolefags to try out PC gaming for the first time.
It's a good first PC. I'd get it if I didn't already more than a decade ago.I'd buy it now I didn't have a desktop and backup already. My PC stronger than it from 10 years ago for similar TDP, and I have a gaming laptop with similar specs I bought because I had to commute for work for a while, so I have a backup now too. I'd only buy it if my main PC shat itself randomly and I couldn't diagnose or replace the component for under $300.
>>741906971>$750And I called $799.99 as retard tier price... got close.
>>741907194>It seems like a device for consolefags to try out PC gaming for the first time. They weren't going to; everyone has a console and a pc at home.
>>741906971at $750 I would've seriously considered getting it even if I don't need it just so I can have another back up PC
I got 5070ti and 9800x3D and 32gb ram and 2tb (should have gotten 4tb) m.2 ssd just before price hikes
I already have a PC so no, but its more appealing for someone who doesn't have one at that price.
>>741906971>Would (You) have bought the Steam MachinenoI have a PC
Nope, because if the StM was $750 it would mean the following :PS5 would be $300PS5 Pro would be $500The Steam Machine doesnt live in its ecosystem and competes with other devices. The PS5 Pro blows the Steam Machine out-of-the-water in terms of performance and it isnt even close. PS5 Pro would still be the most economical and budget-friendly for a pure gamer. With that being said, I am going to make a SteamOS PC with the spare parts I have.
>>741908040$750 sounds like a dream right now compared to the bullshit prices we deal with now.
>>741909575Switch 2 is below $500.
No. If I wanted to spend $750 for shitty, underpowered hardware I'd buy a PS5 Pro, and get a free controller to boot.
>>741906971I could recommend it to others, who want an easy path to the PC gaming world. It is not for me cuz I have a powerful rig.
>>741906971No you could get a better pre built cheaper if you can't build your own
>>741906971No. My PC is better than the steam machine so the only reason to buy one would be as a status symbol. Like buying a gucci bag. Just paying a fee for others to think I am so cool.>But you can play it on TVI am 100% positive you can hook a desktop PC up to a TV.
>>741906971Maybe if I didn't already spend 1500 on a PC a couple years ago that BTFOs this.
>>741907194>I say this as a massive fan of Valve too.oh damn i couldnt tell by how hard you were licking their nuts
>>741906971No. I have to buy a PS5 to play gta6 after all and I already have a high spec PC.
>>741906971Maybe.
>>741906971noI already have a computer that would firmly sit in the top 5% of hardware setupsI already use Linuxthere's not much there for me
>>741909613>toy console with no gamesThanks but no thanks.
>>741906971No, I'm happy with what I have atm. If I had the money to burn I'd probably just pick up a PS5 pro.
>>741906971Why didn't valve just download more RAM onto the machines?
>>741906971Yup. Although, I'm assuming that price is for the base 512 gb model. I would have paid up to $1000 for the 2 tb model.
>>741906971Yeah, I wasn't going to buy it for AAA shit and $750 was OKAY I thought for this economy being what it is, $1050 is outrageous.
>>741906971No. I already have a decent desktop. And I don't really want a pre-configured machine.
>>741906971No but the price increase wouldn't change my decision anyway. If the steam machine has gone up by that much that means home PCs have also increased by the same amount. Comparing it to consoles is pointless because other consoles don't do what it does.
>>741906971>originallyYes, of course.
>>741911145>Mario Kart World>SF64 remake>Kirby Air Riders>DKBananza>Yoshi mysterious book>no gamesLiterally has like 5 at minimum.
>>741906971it's weaker than my current and previous PCs so probably notI don't really do couch gaming either but if I did then it'd probably be more appealing
>>741906971>512GB SSD used to cost 30 bucks, 60 now>16GB of RAM used to cost 40 bucks, 250 nowYeah, I can see it
No because I built my PC in the years everyone was saying how great AI was. It's fucking amazing and people who missed out really deserve what they get. Did spend $900 on 4tb 1.3GB/s SSD.
>>741906971No. Even my million year old pc has better hardware.
>>741912523Nta, but the last Mario games I played were Super Mario World and Super Mario Kart on the SNES. Played the og Star Fox, never played a Kirby or Yoshi game.By the late mid 90s I had already moved on to Playstation and PC gaming.
>>741914701>Played the og Star Fox, never played a Kirby or Yoshi game>Missing out Star Fox 64, Yoshi's Island and Kirby Superstar Ultra
>>741906971If gamecube was going to be $799 then that would also mean competitive prebuilt gaming PCs would be just as competitive with discrete GPUs
>>741906971maybe i guess, then again im completely hardware illiterate and only play games from the 90s. being able to escape the microslop hellhole alone seems worth the price of admission
>>741906971I got a Steam Machine for 20 bucks
>>741906971nah because thats still like $1000 AUD
>>741912523>remakeStopped reading LMAO.
>>741906971I generally don't buy shit I dont need.
