Sakamoto's mental conception of Samus was so wildly off-base from previous depictions (including her limited characterization) as to be character assassination, the plot is in general a very lazy retread of Fusion but without the X, the themes of motherhood aren't TOTALLY out of place with the Metroid hatchling and all but are pretty odd when Samus never considered the thing "her child" in any capacity, Adam is an assbag for no particular reason when Fusion made him out to be a gruff CO but one that Samus did hold a genuine respect for that he had gained and was not simply given, and Samus joining normal GF platoons is kinda retarded no matter how you hash it which is why most any game that features both Samus and the GF doesn't dwell on it.

It deserved more hate. Even if you ignore the character assassination, extreme linearity, and awful cutscenes, the gameplay itself is jank as shit. Th 2D sections are empty, the first-person controls are like they stuck Prime on a pike, and switching is inconsistent/has delays.
