Ratchet's ganes have inconsistent quality, but at least follow a familiar gameplay loopJak's games have inconsistent everything.The first game is more of a typical action adventure platformer, the second game is cringe incarnate, and then the third game is a hybrid of like 20 different ideas and concepts from other games. Looking at the first 4 games in both franchises I think they were pretty close in terms of quality. Right down to a rushed, disappointing third entry and a 4th game that focused entirely on one core mechanic (combat/racing) which was surprisingly fun to play. But imo R&C was somewhat better as they never tried to ape GTA with a shitty open world that you had to backtrack through for every mission.

Ratchet is honestly better in most things, even when Jak tried to focus on "story" the Future series completely fucks Jak 2-3 in the ass, I still love Jak and Daxter btw I'm no hater it's still one of my favorite series
I never got the Jak 2 hate. It definitely has a few shitty missions, and the open world is ass but I still think overall it's a solid platformer with a fun cast and world. And I think the humor is still pretty good and helps a lot to offset the inflated edge.
