just installed steam os since i only use my rig for gaming and shitposting, and music porduction on a small windows drive. it just works these days, cant complain.

Taking a regular Arch or Fedora install and adding what you want is much easier than dealing with all of the hurdles of layering or getting containerized things to play nicely with each other on Fedora Silverblue. "Flatpak for GUI, container CLI" does not apply universally for a number of reasons one being that Flathub just isn't mature enough yet. You're going to have to get some GUI apps from elsewhere then things get complicated very quickly unless you do evil things with layering.Eventually if everything works out people will be able to easily make their own custom images but for now the sane way is to just grab a U Blue image. They have some weird evil designs like integrating Homebrew from Mac to get things like IDEs working but that's the kind of thing you have to do trying to make Atomic viable.
