I strongly disagree, especially since you have a ton of options to make it unnecessary. You'll usually have a solution to it by the time you reach the third floor, anyways.

They'll hate you for this but this is the truth.
There's nothing compelling about having to repeatedly abuse the half-dozen ways to circumvent the holy mountain crumbling and making the (danger-free) trip back upwards every single time you want to make changes to your wands, every single holy mountain on every single run. You will never not pick EWE when it shows up, it just cuts down on far too much tedium.
Starting with EWE each run should have been some meta-progression unlock somewhere in the world, it's a shame you have to resort to a cheat mod for this degree of quality of life.

half the fun of this game is experimenting with it and figuring out a strategy, and discovering ways to circumvent limitations is part of that

hint: that perk is a waste of space, even IF you don't know what you are doing, try experimenting with holy mountain more

Just collapse the holy mountains retards. If you used the TWWE cheat mod, you did not beat the game, and you denied yourself the chance of ever being able to legitimately beat the game again due to illegitimate history. Oh boo hoo you didn't pick up the wand with 1 magic bolt. Just move on.

Still a complete secret. The cauldron is presumed solved, however.
>>

>hint: that perk is a waste of space
Not having it is a waste of time. I do not care how much time you've wasted walking to and from mountains.
>>
>>741915098
I disagree, editing wands anywhere makes the game much more fun for me, even if it interferes with the intended pacing

I do not like skipping interesting looking wands or spells due to inventory management issues, that detracts from the experience for me, and tinkering whenever I want with my spell order is crucial for my enjoyment
>>
>>741916158
no it just wastes your time, its artificial difficulty in an already difficult game

you can disagree if you want, but you're wrong and will never convince me

How do I get a long run going?
I want to kill some bosses and shit but can never find what I need for digging back to the surface
>>
>>741917803
the most important thing is teleports and black holes
if you get both of those + healing you should be able to get a long run easily
>>
>>741917803
Ignore all advice. Just keep playing the game. You'll figure it out.
>>
>>741917876
nahhh mann, lumdrill
>>
>>741916158
it's genuinely a waste of time to not have it man. i would never put someone down for modding it in. i waste my time for fun now to see the difference and the only real difference is how many trips back to the mountain you need to do
>t. 500 hours without it, 500 hours with it modded, and now another 250 without it again for perspective
>>
>>741918234
I mean sure, but it's usually more work to get easy digging with lumi than black holes
>>
>>741917803
Fungal Caverns always, every run. Once you have tele+holes there's a shortcut to the east of Snowy Depths leading back to Mines.
>>
>>741918391
i think 90% of my deaths are in fungal just trying to start runs
>>
>>741918313
You do not need to make any trips back to the mountains. Just collapse them fag.
>>
>>741917803
As long as you can dig through dense rock (not even extremely dense rock) by the time you reach the final boss, you are capable of making it back to the surface. Literally any drill spell will achieve this. Energy Orb also works great.
Your primary goals for getting a long run going are:
>find a way to move fast
>find a way to dig fast
>find a way to kill shit fast
>find a reliable way to heal
>find ways to become invincible (be it temporarily or otherwise)
>don't touch the pink shit unless you know what you're doing (any of it. literally anything pink)
>>
>>741917876
>>741918234
If only I could find those and the wands and other spells I need to make them work...

>>741918391
That's what I've been trying to do, but I never find any shit worthwhile in the Fungal Caverns

>>741918124
The advice I've been given never worked for me so I'm going to listen to you
>>
How to heal?
>>
>>741918635
the mountains have hearts in them
>>
>>741918635
pray you find one of the two spells that do it (one of them needs a bunch of modifiers to actually heal you correctly), pray chests might contain a full heal, use the holy mountains heals, use the secret scattered full heals around the map
>>
>>741918763
>>741918689
Ok, seems difficult but I'll try again
>>
>>741918635
oh also charm the healer hiisi with pheromones and let them heal you
>>
>>741918818
it is difficult
you can get other ways to heal, but the mountain hearts are the main way
>>
>>741918635
Your only consistent source of healing are the hearts in the Holy Mountains.
There's a couple of heal spells, they are very rare and one of them is a projectile you need to somehow make hit you. There is also an item that can heal you.
It's better to just avoid damage.
I wish eating cooked meat would heal you a bit or healing potions could be crafted, unfortunately alchemy in this game is just a gimmick or used for some obscure puzzles.
>>
>>741911856
I don't buy roguelites where you can get oneshot at all times no matter what
>>
>>741918885
>one of them is a projectile you need to somehow make hit you.
but make sure the fucking modifier you use to do that isn't one that adds fucking damage or the healing bolt will kill you at super low health (when you would want to heal).

Compared to the rest of the first three biomes yeah, you have to bite that bullet and hope your run starts there. Most likely it will. Any wand in Fungal is a guaranteed non-shuffle wand and chances are you can make something with one.
Even a slow firing chain bolt, lance or plasma can take you all the way to Jungle where runs can also start.
>>
>>741916158
>discovering ways to circumvent limitations is part of that
Sure but once you've figured it out, it's tedious to double back constantly just for inventory management pretty much
>>
>>741919071
Rofl
>>
>>741919263
truth be told, i think a medium between the two would be nice, where outside of edit areas you are able to dismantle spells from wands but not put them back into any wands, i would be happy with that
>>
>>741911856
Noita would be a great game if it didn't have some absolutely retarded design choices. Limiting wand tinkering to holy mountains is retarded, and so is the absolute rarity of healing.
>>

The game is a torture device.

really, there is such an unbelievable amount of random chip damage in the game that the inability to heal really adds up fast

I do agree that it makes everything 200% more convenient and so I always take it when I can, but there is some fun in overcoming the challenge and finding new solutions.

>>741917803
For me, the key is
>making a good teleport wand (short teleport bolt, small casting delay and recharge time)
>having a good way to dig around the world (black holes, luminous drill, energy sphere, etc.)
>knowing the general game map
>ALWAYS kill the Alchemist boss. He'll usually drop at least one spell (alfa, gamma, or tau), which allows you to cast spells infinitely.
In any case, it usually takes time and experience to get there. Don't worry about it too much.

>>741918234
>lumdrill
Used to be my favorite spell, specially with pingpong path
>>
>>741919423
Is it even possible to save scum in Noita?
>>
>>741919515
Keeping yourself soaked in water or blood prevents a lot of the chip damage from fire and toxic sludge
>>
>>741919415
>the absolute rarity of healing
I think that's a good thing actually. It makes you play cautiously and thoughtfully, and also serves as a sort of skill based timer on how long you can spend in each level before you have to go to the Holy Mountain to heal. It's a good system that rewards skill and planning.
>>
>>741920992
you can backup your save right after you die but before it saves
>>
>>741919423
For fun sure, or to explore/hunt secrets. But using it for normal gameplay will suck out the fun

>>741920992
Yeah.
>>
>>741920992
You can create "checkpoints" through backups

Noita, Morrowind and, maybe on a good day, Rift Wizard 2, are the only games that do wizardry justice.

No, the Cauldron puzzle in Noita has not been "solved" in the sense of revealing a hidden mechanic, reward, or major secret functionality.

noita.wiki.gg

Current Status (as of mid-2026)The Cauldron Room (a hidden, mod-restricted area east of the Hiisi Base) remains one of Noita's enduring mysteries alongside the Eye Messages. No verifiable in-game function, reward, or interaction has been discovered despite years of community testing, datamining, and experimentation.

noita.wiki.gg

The cauldron's contents (Void Liquid on certain "Void" days or empty on "Air" days) are determined by an internal yearly calendar based on UTC date. This has been fully mapped, but it doesn't trigger anything special.

noita.wiki.gg

Extensive tests (putting items, enemies, alchemy materials, bosses' meat, wands, etc. inside; date-specific attempts; NG+ interactions) have yielded no results.

I really wanna know how to get a good digging wand. Should i be clearing EVERY floor, from right to left and killing every enemy? Since I finish the mines and I don't have any good digging besides bombs.
>>
>>741922313
>Should i be clearing EVERY floor, from right to left and killing every enemy
Not necessarily, your goal on the first and second areas is to get a decent wand going and a few health upgrades if possible.
Collapsed mines (left of the first area) is almost always worthless but heading left from the coal pits gets you to the fungal caverns and you can find some really good shit there. It's dangerous as fuck though, which is why you want to get in as much exploration as safely possible before then. Having to skip it because you're too weak really sucks.
>>
>>741922313
>Should i be clearing EVERY floor, from right to left and killing every enemy?
Yes, but without putting yourself at too much risk. You want to get as much gold as you can and decent wands and spells so you have more options to make something good with.

>Since I finish the mines and I don't have any good digging besides bombs
You're rarely going to get anything good in the mines. but it's still worth exploring so you can be ready for the next area. The Fungal Caverns are supposed to have good wand spawns.

You can, but it makes the game rather trivial if you do.

>Eye puzzle status
I don't buy it that the developer 'doesnt remember' how to solve it, he just doesn't want people bugging him about it.
I wish they at least gave some hint, like if it is connected to the cauldron or not.

>>741917185
>The cauldron is presumed solved, however.
Is it? I'd assume Fury would immediately make a video about it if it were.
