I own a 9850x3d I just bought it to be silly and waste money, I don't even enable pbo I like to let it run very cold. I always set my power profile to power saver on linux and only swap it to balanced when gaming

I remember when i first built that shitbox i could run dota, csgo, fuckin gta v no problem at medium high getting a stable 60 fps. shit i could play apex legends at medium getting stable 60.Over the course of that system's life i saw games not able to be run anymore, crashing out of csgo/cs2 and dota 2, sub 15 fps non gta v multiplayer, so then i started playing older games, mostly old RPGs, VTMB, Arcanum, FO1 and 2, Morrowind, kenshi etc. I also started dipping my toes into traditional roguelikes, cogmind, nethack, caves of qud, ToME. All that is to say i managed to squeeze every ounce of fun to be had with my shitbox of a system and made me appreciate older games since those were the only ones i could run. Now after getting a decent pc i i don't play any of the graphically intensive games like CP2077, Ready or Not, the new Battlefield game, i still tend to play older games. but its nice to know that if i have to max out settings on the newest goyslop AAA game, i could.

>>741917781I did that once to my old 2600x. I didn't drop it, I used the preapplied thermal paste on the stock wraith cooler and wanted to upgrade the cooler. I was pretty gentle with it, pressed down slightly at the corner as I pulled it up and it made an awful velcro noise. Bent the fuck out of all the pins, it pulled the cpu out of the socket and I spent HOURS bending them back with the tip of a mechanical pencil and using a razor blade to make sure they were straight. The relief I felt when I got the system to post and it passed a few benchmark tests was insane.
