I switch to easy if I'm not having fun.I cheat in variables(money items) to absurd values if I think those are not making me have fun.I use save states to have fun.I quit the game if I'm not having fun.I play through the game once to experience it because I have too many games to have fun with.I have fun. I did infact, beat the game. If the game doesnt want me to have fun then it is not a real game
