The cathedral level in the first game was one of the worst areas I have ever experienced and guaranteed I had no desire to ever play a sequel.
I regret buying code vein 1 on sale. Even though I only payed less than one third of the price I still feel scammed. It has nothing to offer but the cute girls in the hub and the soundtrack, both can be enjoyed through youtube

I was so disappointed. I refunded it in less than three hours, that's how bad it was. A far cry from the first game. What's even worse is I probably didn't even get to actually experience a lot of what the game had but if the beginning is that terrible then maybe it wasn't worth playing through the rest of it. I don't know if they ever put out hotfixes/patches for it, but it was so poorly optimized. I have a pretty strong gayming PC and it ran so poorly.

That paired with a bunch of other meta reasons, culture war controversy and poorfags complaining like they do for everything. It did fine considering the circumstances and as a game it's significantly better than the first in all but characters, which were tolerable but way less interesting and involved in the narrative.
