My biggest issue is Witcher 3 canonically at the end makes it seem like Geralt is "retiring" though I don't know if a Witcher ever truly retires. I'm scared this is some flashback garbage. I did enjoy HoS and B&W, so I am holding out hope it will be decent. B&W was really fun.

But I would bet anything that it will not only take place after the events of TW3, but will set up (maybe indirectly) the events of TW4. It just makes sense from a marketing perspective. Like, hey, make a DLC that people will enjoy, get some quick cash while working in a game/engine you've generally mastered development for, and get people excited/ready for the sequel.I'd bet maybe the end of the DLC will be those exact events explaining why Ciri would go through with the mutations, what happened, and what she's going up against in the long run.
