Will solid state media ever make a comeback in gaming?

yea if you save your digital copy on your solid state drive
>>
no it's a waste of materials to make a separate drive for each game

The vast majority of games nowadays are played off solid state media.

Sure, if someone makes a long lasting, durable, high storage media in a nice form factor and a standard to easily plug and play into a console/PC with fast read times. Doubt anyone wants to try to make that investment though.

Lies.
It's all about ecosystem control and profit margins. You pay more for digital than physical CDs and that can be removed from service at anytime by these companies because you don't have a physical copy.
Bulk cd presses are cents each. Data centers cost millions of dollars to operate.

No, you are not allowed to own media anymore.
