I would say pirate the originals but you have to do a bunch of annoying BS to get the DLCs working and a lot of good mods dropped support. If you think the effort would kill your interest then I'd get the remake and make sure to install MELLO and Saren stages. There are also mods that unlock cut content, as well as give you access to morality locked missions so you can get all the content in one run. Photo mode is also alright.
Legendary edition. It goes to like 5 bucks with every steam sale. I found LE more enjoyable than the original, and it looks nicer. And you can actually sprint outside combat unlike the original.

>>741928774If you have an xbox one or whatever the newest console is then through backwards compatibility.If you have only a PC then you have to choose which is more important to you. The OG on PC has better lightening but you'll still need to install ALOT at minimum to fix the broken textures that never got patched. You'll also need to do some tweaking to the exe and other stuff to get it to run properly. Good news is the ALOT installer does it all for you.If you play the LE version then you'll need to install lightening mods like mello to try and get the OG aesthetics. It'll never look quite right but the environments look better overall then the OG. It's important to know even with mods the LE models still look wierd. The devs messed the eye lids up specifially and made the eyes overall bigger which makes the characters look funny. Also you'll need the various uncensor mods if you want the original experience. Ultimately I'd recommend just looking through the nexus for both the OG and LE versions to see if there's specifics mods you want to use. If you've never played the game before though just get the original.

If you aren't using soldier or infiltrator to get the biggest bonuses for your 3x scram rail sniper rifle with high explosive ammo (turning said rifle into a portable rail gun) then you haven't actually played Mass Effect 1.

>>741928774I like infiltrator the most in ME1, really good CC and snipers are like, one of the more busted weapon types in the game thanks to infinite ammo. if you mean which version, it really depends. the bundled ports are convenient, but have some visual issues. there are mods that fix some issues though, but not all. no idea if the original releases have compatibility issues with modern hardware
