They thought live service was the future, invested in a bunch of games and studios, waited the mandatory 6-8+ years for those games to actually be finished, only for them all to bomb. Paying for the last 10-20% might still make more sense than just writing it all off. The real problem is how fucking long these games take to make. Apparently God of War: Laundry was first pitched *to the lead actress* in 2018, meaning the idea is even older. That's why it feels so hopelessly outdated, like it should have released side-by-side with Forspoken or some shit. The whole industry is fucked
