I've had PLENTY of time with this game (unlocked every skin, in the top echelon of players) and you know what?
I don't think a game has ever EARNED my hatred like this one. I've never played a game that holds such contempt for its players.

The enemy design makes me want to punch a fucking hole in the wall. Those shitheads with maces and shields that bounce all over the place and react INSTANTLY to you

The random level challenges you basically have to take because the rewards are so good can create situations where damage is literally unavoidable (the "enemies revive after 3 seconds" one is the biggest offender).

Enemies constantly attack from off screen.
Enemies are CONSTANTLY placed at the end of platforming sections, so if you dare go fast you jump straight into them before you can react.
The game also LOVES putting enemies ABOVE YOU and off screen so your jump carries you right into them.

Resonators don't spawn if you loop.
90% of Prototype Augs are USELESS TRASH that only hurt you, and they're boring on top of it.
Spiralizer + enough beams can literally softlock you in Penumbra.
So many enemies and hazards are tiny little shits crawling along the floor or walls.

Boss armor is INSANE. I had 150 attack power and multiple % damage multipliers and bosses STILL soaked up damage because apparently you're not allowed to feel powerful.

All of Watergrav (including the shitty protogen furry OC boss).
Those stupid mud pits in Echocave that remove LITERALLY ALL OF YOUR STANDARD ABILITIES, and sometimes the level is basically ALL MUD.

Almost all of the Entropy modifiers are ANNOYING AS FUCK (including removing half the damn items), because the devs seem to have no idea what fair challenge is. And Entropy ISN'T OPTIONAL if you actually want to unlock everything.

I can go on. I seriously can.

no one on this board remember megaman x let alone some random indie game that didn't learn from shovel knight's approach to nostalgia pandering. you are wasting your time and energies on a website filled with contrarian losers who will never be considered adults by anyone with a functioning brain.
>>
>>741933697
What do you mean "Didn't learn from Shovel Knight?"
>>
>>741933854
don't reference ONE nostalgic game/ip or people will simply be reminded that your game is inferior because of nostalgia goggles.

its why yooka laylee failed so hard, many other tried this as well and those who succeed and surpass the original inspiration are rare as fuck.
>>
>>741933970
I mean, I don't think I'm wearing nostalgia goggles when I say Megaman X 1-4 are infinitely better designed games
>>
>>741934119
so would I. btw look up the megaman x trilogy randomizer if you didn't know about it. It's great.
>>
>>741933591
> The random level challenges you basically have to take because the rewards are so good

What the fuck are you talking about? Those rewards are straight ass, I maybe take them around a tenth of the time.
>>
>>741934163
This may satisfy my hunger
>>
>>741934334
I mean it's random. But cores are weighted more heavily in the item pool for the challenges, that much is apparent. You can get resonators too. I'd say i take the challenge like 70% of the time.
>>
>>741933591
>Spiralizer + enough beams can literally softlock you in Penumbra.
You can deactivate weapon mods like that. I crashed the game a few times with the spiral, fork, reverse fork, and gatling but no charge ones combined with the full set of armor that makes all the shots charged, but I could always just turn off the spiral shot and make it not crash.

for those who caree
>>
>>741934434
There's an entropy modifier that stops you from switching out cores in the middle of a level. Once you get to like 12+ entropy you'd be crazy not to take it because MOST of the time it's fine. Until it's game-breakingly not
>>
Since I'm still yapping I might as well point out some things I DO like about the game

It's very pretty

It controls like butter

Nina's power fusions are very fun, Crystal Wave (the fusion of the digital shield and the freezing crystal abilities) might be my favorite power in any Megaman or Megaman-ripoff game

The bosses (except the aforementioned shitty protogen furry OC) are generally well designed

The soundtrack is a solid 7/10

If you like Megaman X you'll probably still like it, but if you try to really sink your teeth into it there's a high chance of it really pissing you off with it's bullshit
>>
>>741933591
Why don't you send a ticket to them? Let the developers know
>>
Why should I play this over 20XX
>>
>>741933591
Based 9001 hours played would not recommend currently ingame enjoyer.
>>
>>741933970
>its why yooka laylee failed so hard,
Yooka Laylee got 3 games after with a remaster and a fucking kart racer coming.
Fucking banjofags continue to be the most miserable, diapershitting pests on this board.

I found a possible X7 clone. X is a nigger...
As for 30xx/20xx I never got far in either game. Roguelite just doesn't really work for me with 2d action platformers and 30XX specifically felt like a barely functional proof of concept with how none of the levels felt enjoyable to traverse.
>>
30xx was great. Completeing the meta progression and time travelling to the destruction of the city where hoot is protecting you instead of fighting you was a highlight no game will ever match.
The prototype characters shatter the game difficulty by skipping core augs and getting functionally infinite scrap rerolls.
>>
>>741933697
I remember it. I've got 95 hours in 30XX.

I agree that it has some issues, but they are "late game" stuff more than early.

The game fucks you over if you go into high entropy and do challenges every time, but that's only a problem when you're approaching unlocking the ending and such.

MMX1-4 are, as anon says, better designed games. The perk that 20XX and 30XX bring is that a roguelike format turns the game from "get gud at exactly these levels" to "get gud at the skillsets and tools in the game".

I like, in this case, that instead of autistically speedrunning MMX again and having to make my own difficulty by holding MYSELF to challenges like suboptimal boss orders or skipping upgrades, I can play the game at incremental difficulty, with randomised boss orders and such, without delving into the deeply autistic realm of romhacking.

It's a happy medium for me.
But I'm not looking to play it at extreme difficulty.

But I can understand OP's rage and I dare say I'll be done with 30XX in another 10-20 hours of plays.

>>741936865
I remember playing an MMX7 clone demo some years back and it was godawful, the movement and platforming was actually worse than X7 by far. Literally play game -> finish tutorial -> uninstall. It wasn't this one, though, it was the one where Dr Cain was a muslim-looking woman I think.

anyway what I REALLY want from megaman now, is a new MMBN style game that's not a run based roguelike.
I like deckbuilding RPGs where you actually play through the game for 10-40 hours and deckbuild repeatedly through that game, rather than the Spire-like "refine one deck in a 1-2 hour run" approach. I'm playing Steamworld Quest right now and it is in that style of deckbuilder, but I want an actual MMBN-like game with MMBN combat that's a long game not a roguelike.

I know exactly what you're talking about, it was a saudi produced game where the technology was revolving around solar energy, right?
I can't remember the name either.
>>
>>741939552
I can't remember a fucking thing about it, I'm gonna see if I can find the game. All I know is I went from "follow on steam to wait for a demo" to "literally unplayably shit" after about five minutes hands-on.
>>
>>741939552
Yeah, looks like you were right. Protodroid DeLTA is what I played and that fits your description of solar powered stuff and a saudi solodev.

It's a shame it felt so shit to play, I am very open to solo devs making their loveable jank. If a big studio makes a shit game, that's a studio that coulda been making a good game (eg, if you think BotW/TotK are shit, you're looking at no good mainline zelda for 10+ years), but if a solo dev makes a hail mary freak of a game it's not shitting on the development of anything else good.

>>741936781
actually it failed because they betrayed based jontron
