I'm surprised this game released first honestly.
Especially as Red Info were the one who started first. yet there's still no news about their games. and Longdue themselves are also former Red Info people.

Originally, Many (most?) left ZA/UM to make Red Info and Dark Math
but then some left Red Info to make Longdue
and THEN some also left Londue and Dark Math to make Summer Eternal
Red Info has no game shown even though they started first, though they apparently have backing from Netease of 10 million+ dollars and Chris Avelone

Aside from surface level I think Esoteric Ebb was a better clone, and even there the political gibberish is just forced in there because Disco had it.

I don't think anyone can make a real Disco successor until they realize that surface level shit didn't need to be there at all. When the pointless political asides disappear, then they might be ready to write a successor.

The best legacy of the game will be in what they're now calling "fail forward" writing, that is the simple mechanic of making failed rolls in an RPG not be an automatic negative outcome.

It's more complicated than this
Summer Eternal are actually former ZA/UM who worked on the canceled game Locust City, which was the Disco spin off with Cuno, they also took some people who worked at Longdue and Dark Math but left
Longdue are also very complicated because they have a lot of good people but the financial backer of the project is basically a Musk-like millionaire. Who also attacked Summer Eternal at court which made game development at their studio very complicated. But despite these issues with their financial backer, it seem development of their game is going well.
Red Info has enormous backing from China which also could impact the theme of the game.
Dark Math doesn't have any drama as far as I know though it did lost some people who moved to summer eternal.
Also, ZA/UM also had legal troubles Summer Eternal and Red Info
Every studios here also seem hostile on the others
