Is it really worth the hardware investment to leave 1080p gaming for higher resolutions?
What exactly am i missing?

I was not even very happy when I moved from 720 to 1080. I don't need any more.

You are missing the beauty of an LG G6 55" OLED paired with a RTX 5090 that looks so beautiful at 4K HDR with G-Sync and 144hz. 1080p has been poverty tier since Fallout 3 came out.

The jump from my PS3 720p-1080i (usually rendered at sub 600p) to my 1080p PC in 2011 was smaller than the jump from 1080p to 4K in June 2016 with the GTX 1080 which was incredible.

this 360p is the sweet spot for me, 4k is just not worth if you don't sit far away imo.
