What happened was the numbered games have been chasing action-RPGs while also taking longer to come out, and violent autists will ignore any game if it isn't a "proper numbered entry" so stuff like Bravely Default or Octopath Traveler don't count even though those are also turn-based RPGs from Square EnixSo recognizing that brand recognition and frequent releases are important Square's cannibalized their gachas to turn into single-player RPGs with random encounters and junk, it probably still won't satisfy the small army of Barry clones that infest Square Enix's fanbases but nothing will satisfy those guys because their wants and needs are completely incomprehensible even to themselves
