Throwing it back to the Red Ribbon Army, a villain that is literally cumulative, using Gohan's hidden power in what could've been a "passing of the torch" moment. The time travel is whatever and the story contrivances do get too heavy handed to ignore (muh heart condition) but it's still a cut above what came after.
