You have to very but I mean, VERY selective if you want someone to understand. Most people rather buy the latest entry of a series and claim they are a big fan of the whole franchise but would make up excuses as to why they don't want to understand or learn about the older entries

That's why remakes tend to be taken in favor by these people solely because these are entries that are designed to cater to people who want to but not be dedicated to be fans of something
