Very simple and short metroidvania but it's a lot of fun and the characters are extremely charming.
I alone have the power to find hidden gems the natural way. No one spoonfeeds me gems, all the gems in these threads filter down from my recommendations.I'm like an explorer who maps uncharted territory. You're'll casuals who get told where to go. When I play video games, the walkthroughs are still unwritten. I find my way to the end all alone.

https://store.steampowered.com/app/1647310/Trench_Lord_Eastern_Front/Trench Lord Eastern Front is massively underrated. It's a WW2 action game in the style of Running With Rifles or Foxhole, but on top of playing as a squad/tank like a top-down shooter, you are also able to give general orders to the whole army or jump to another unit and take command of that.It has a cool campaign mode where you continuously upgrade a company throughout the war. You set up squads, choose which gear they have, buy upgrades, give medals that provide buffs, buy new vehicles, complete missions and so on.It's made by chinamen, but it's pretty good otherwise. There are some bits of untranslated chinese, and the game feels jank in general, but it's fun and pretty cheap.

So two cons here that will likely be deal breakers for a lot of anons here:1.The game is in early access2.The game almost exclusively contains anthro characters (scalies)That being said, it's the most competent S.T.A.L.K.E.R. like game I've ever played, and I easily managed to log over 100 hours even in it's unfinished state. The gameplay is fun and it oozes atmosphere. The scalies at the very least, are not fetishized in any way and actually do tie into the game's backstory (they're called inheritors and live in a post-human world). If you can get past the cons, and liked the OG S.T.A.L.K.E.R.s, you'll like this game.
Foolish Mortals is a pretty nice recent point'n'click adventure game, doesn't quite reach the same heights as the GOATs, but still pretty nice.
>>742019060I kinda hated it because once you learn "use stick" and "backflip" you're just bumrushing the next checkpoint you died a few times to find because filling out the map and trying to survive is actually worthless. But I can see the appeal.

Recommendation is the original Mass Effect trilogy, don't play the 'Legendary' version it changed around a few things, censored Miranda's arse. Changed the lighting in a few places and scenes which changed the tone. They're not MASSIVE changes but they do add up to make a different experience. All the DLC is still included in these as well so you don't need to buy them separately.

>>742020859>Mostly PositiveI'm going to take a wild guess and say that there's some massive tech problems to be aware of.
>>742021016Yeah looking through the reviews it does seem it's tech issues that are what people are complaining about, the games themselves people are saying they prefer to the Legendary edition.Personally prefer to play the trilogy on my XBOX360, but that thing is getting old now and I want to use it sparingly to save it.
>>742019245If you like the SNES SMT games then Touhou Artificial Dream in Arcadia is a pretty nice game on that style.
>>742020521All you need to know about 2hu to play 99% of the games is that the setting is Gensokyu - a mythical land sealed off from the rest of the world where youkai, gods, and all sorts of other mythical beings escaped to after people stopped believing in them. The main protagonist Hakurei Reimu is a Shrine Maiden and supposed to keep the peace there, so whenever something wacky happens, "an incident" as they call it, she's the one to go and resolve it - often begrudgingly. The main thing about 2hu is really just that primary setting and how much you can do with it. It's basically a huge playground where you can do whatever. People will put the characters into wacky situations and let them develop that way, then other people will copy a bit of it and invent their own unique twists on it, and in that way the whole world slowly changes and progresses over time. It's very a community driven series, the base framework from ZUN is very open.

>>742020859>Recommendation is the original Mass Effect trilogy, don't play the 'Legendary' version it changed around a few things, censored Miranda's arse. Changed the lighting in a few places and scenes which changed the tone.Even though this is true, everything is fixed with mods, Miranda's ass, lighting, and anything that was different from the originals. You may want to buy ME3 standalone for the multiplayer, but that's it. Legendary is fine, you don't even have to deal with the ME amd cpu bug.

Still, quality isn't determined by review quantity. As a free bit of advice, the visa number decoding puzzle, don't even bother. It's hilariously difficult and everyone has problems with it and I read the explanation about base 8 mathematics and conversion of binary to decimal format and I still don't get it. I find it hilarious that the developers got feedback about the puzzles from the demo and decided the chair spinning puzzle was too difficult and removed it. (There was this chair but it was facing the wrong way so to sit down you had to spin it around once.)Probably they spent a week creating the visa puzzle and didn't want to remove such a prominent puzzle that used lots of effort and assets even though it was ridiculous, but the chair puzzle? Yeah that'll take two seconds to remove get rid of it we can't have people getting frustrated over the puzzle and quitting after all lmao. Who could ever figure out that a chair needs to be facing forwards to sit in it? No way. That puzzle is cut!

Monster Hunter maybe? But it's a boss killing game instead of a dungeon game. PSOBB and PSU can be played on private servers but they don't really have matchmaking and the populations are tiny so finding people to play with would be difficult. Same goes for Dragon's Dogma Online. There's some games on consoles that can be emulated for online multiplay but obviously you need to bring your own friends to play with. Ragnarok Odyssey Ace for ps3. Warriors of the Lost Empire, PSP2i and Lord of Apocalypse for psp. PSZero for DS. dothack fragment has a private server for ps2.

I recommend this game. It's 67% off or $13. Great RTS about a band of bros escaping the commies after WW1. You can lose anyone if you go out on missions and they die XCOM style then you build up your train to get through the cold. Kinda challenging but fair. Worth 1-2 playthroughs.
>>742024273Have you tried Wayward? It's probably the most compelling survivalcraft I've played in years. If anyone has any other not very well known VNs that are not awful, I'll take them. I just don't like Westoid topics for the most part. Good somewhat old shmup. It was on all the consoles so you could just play it on an emulator and I have no idea if it would count as a hidden gem. The PC port is pretty gud.
>>742040154I'm glad I'm not the only custom character schizo in this neck of the woods.Speaking of which, anyone got recs for gems with character creation?
>>742040559they can't even do the over-design that well like the Korean-Weaboos in the 00s did, they oversell instead of design with intention to make it appealing.
Any games with werewolves ?I swear it's not fury thing.
>>742039923But don't expect too much from it.
>>742040161>Lost Castle 2Lets you use katanas, broadswords, and dual swords.>SephiriaSimilar to LC2. Katanas and greatswords are present.>Fabular: Once Upon a SpacetimeSo get this, you're inside a spaceship, except the spaceshit is a mech, except the mech is a knight, and it fights with TWO claymores at the same time. These are my most solid recs. I have plenty more games where you can play with a sword, but there's a lot less emphasis on it, so I'm gonna wait until you check these and decide if you want more.

>>742040196Is that supposed to be Baron Harkonen? Looks terrible.
>>742011118I hope the game is good because god damn I hate that player sprite.
>>742041049hey you just spoiled itnot that i care if I cared I would have played it before now.
>>742038005oh, that's the swedish submarine game, heavy metal death can.is it any good ?
>>742034528Oh wow. I completely forgot about there was a 3rd one. Thanks.
>>742040535>ShadowstalkerI don't wanna play a PvP game if I can't do it with bots or something.>Devilspire FallsI'm actually considering it heavily but it looks so ugly I can barely tell what's going on, and tutorial-dumping just kills my mood.
>>742020116MoW 2 plays better and runs way better. However, AS2 has a ton more mods, including conversions for 40k, Star Wars, etc. Mind you, the skirmish AI in AS2 is crappy (and you need the airborne DLC to even have it), so you'll need to mod that too.>>742034434>>742035596I'd say there's zero reason to play GOH when MoW 2 exists. Of course, you couldn't actually point out any of these supposed "factually missing features" if you tried, because you never played MoW 2.Not sure how GOH got such a mentally ill audience.
>>742041120It's from the David Lynch Dune, it's awesome in all its kitschness. The fan cut is better than the theatrical one:https://youtu.be/7Yw2nGCUPa4
Do you have this thread is very big and confusing I dont seeeeeeeee just decent indies just decent graphics a decent amount of gameplay and just a decent indie do you have that?and so I actually just saidY'know do you have indies?

>>742040909>Lost Castle 2Massive stretch, but you don't have many options. The game has a weapon class - lantern, which is basically a summoning magic focus that lets you command a ghost into battle. There is a meta-unlock called "The shadow stepper inscription" which allows you to get possessed by your ghost to turn into a monster. There are three monsters - the demon that summons melee weapons, the dragon that shoots magic blasts, and the beast that fights with its claws. That beast is kinda sorta close to a werewolf.I'm afraid that's the best I can do.
>>742041190>spoiled itblame whoever wrote the store page desc
>>742041380How (un)faithful is it to the source material? I told all DUNCtroons to kill themselves for recommending it to me the second I saw Shaniqua Kynes on the screen.
>>742041771Gay link dump. I will give you one chance to win me over, tell me if Galaxy Highways has a character creation or at least an ambiguous protagonist.
>>742022126NTA, but it's an eroge game with heavy SRPG elements like Sengoku Rance or Underwater Ray Romano. The basic premise is that you get isekai'd to a fantasy world where your imouto is kidnapped and you're forcibly drafted into fighting a war. The original had an evil route where you become corrupted by your sword and rape the heroines.
>>742031386I'm a bit late, but, yeah, that's how you are intended to play. BUT: the dev added an alternate inventory mode. I never tried it though.
>>742034884>>742034884ah yes, that's a /v/ steam sales classic. Was a fun time when people discovered this game for only 1 buck.Great game
>>742042292Fairly unfaithful, it takes significant liberties on top of being a very troubled production. The Spicediver fan cut improves things (like removing the infamous rain at the end) though. Just enjoy it as its own thing, a product of the 80s and lots of drugs.
Any horny hidden gem recommendations? No porn, just horny, like those old Leisure Suit Larry games.Kinda miss those games that only have casual nudity at best, and are more about implications or for comedy purposes.
>>742022126What the other anon said. The ending is really good too.
Can personally recommend this game, it is not easy.
>>742042930Cosmobreeder Yiffai is a genuinely great metroidvania, and unless you download the dev's patch that adds in the lewd cutscenes it's all softcore. As the title subtly implies, it's a furry game though.
>>742042930The Shantae games?
>>742013580Kingsvein is objectively worse than Horizon's Gate, unfortunately. They tried to do some interesting things and make it into a more linear, cohesive experience, but in doing so they sapped a LOT of tactical depth from it.
>>742011520the first one was hard af
>>742042930I doubt you wouldn't know about Atlyss by now. Let me try and find something properly obscure.https://store.steampowered.com/app/4348610/Codex_Arcana_Grimoire_of_Monsters/You play as a summoner commanding various flavors of cute and ever so slightly raunchy monster girls. Dungeon Mori from the same dev is also sexy on a rare occasion, but most of it is just normal fantasy.https://store.steampowered.com/app/3148560/Project_TurboBlast/Don't if counts as hidden, it had a lot of noise around it back when the demo first released.>RuzaWas made by one of our fellow /v/ermin until he went insane 3 separate times and it culminated in him delisting the game from steam and disappearing off the internet. Someone might be able to catbox the game here, maybe.That's... All I got, really. Most of my games are either too serious or are so horny that they embrace getting all hot and bothered under the sheets.
>>742020935early alzheimer's is a bitch
>>742042389>>742042931Was that route cut?I already have it in my library and installed, but I need to finish a bunch of other games before I play it.Also supposedly the combat system is esoteric. Can I go in blind, or is that just a recipe for failure?

>>742043212>>742043220>>742043616Thanks, anons. I already own all the Shantae games, but I'll check out the other ones.Project TurboBlast looks very promising. Shame it isn't out, yet.
>>742038830except instead of lusting over large men and faggot aliens it's little girls.
>>742044264>Project TurboBlast looks very promising. Shame it isn't out, yet.I just hope the author being a gay furfag who screeches about transphobes on his twitter won't end up impacting the game. People like that are far too retarded to make good content, but maybe the monkey will trip over the typewriter enough times to make something tolerable.
>>742032798It's not hidden
>>742035890looks like galshell
what are some older indie games you need to have in your steam library in order to seem cool and in-the-know?

I scour these threads all the time looking for games like Phantasy Star Online.I check itch.ioI check new releases on SteamI google searchI ask numerous AIThere simply does not exist an equl to this game.No Atlyss does not count, I love it but it is not PSO.
>>742044925Arctic Eggs is far from unpopular tho. Good for them.

>>742032834https://store.steampowered.com/app/780290/Gloomhaven/Great for two players since each gets two mercenaries. Don't hesitate to start on lower difficulty, early encounters can fuck you up. Action economy is very strict and unforgiving but once you figure it out pulling off "optimal" turns where you get most bang for you buck is extremely satisfying. It can be a bit buggy at times and netcode is ass but thankfully a desync would only cost you one turn's worth of progress.UI leaves a lot to be desired so having voice comms is pretty much a prerequisite for coop, you'll be asking "so what's your initiative again?" like 50 times when setting up a combo.>>742033028>DeadzoneLmao I remember when it was an extraction shooter that was supposed to be part of Starsiege/Tribes revival. Fuck erez.
>>742024126They could easily fix that by restricting it to like 5 or so. Instead its just a tag soup because they wanna show up in literally every search possible. That's not to mention the joke tags like "psychological horror" to games that are just a lil bit harder than normal.
>>742039080I played this years ago, around the time it came out maybe, so my memory is pretty cloudyFrom what I recall it was kind of more puzzle stuff rather than tactics shit if you know what I mean? Over all impression that it's alright, solid game but didn't blow my socks off like Grimrock did Fans of the genre who may enjoy, competently made, doesn't overstay it's welcome but again it did not blow my mind or leave a lasting impression after half a decade
>>742046078>you'll be asking "so what's your initiative again?"the actual rules of the game state you're not supposed to discuss hard numbers and only refer to vague statements like "Slow/Medium/Fast" because it makes the game too easyDunno how the digital ones account for that, if it just shows everyone that is really gay and baby tier
>>742044847World of Goo, Gish, The Basement Collection, VVVVVV, Hotline Miami

>>742040535I notice a lot of these are from anons. Are you suggesting they're all made by anons? >>742045015It's basically a dead subgenre. I'm baffled that there don't seem to be any indies trying to enter that market.
>>742039171Imma be honest I think Blasphemous 1 was kind of a bad game just with very pretty animation/art.Most of the level design and game design was kinda jank and bad. And no, it's not "wahh its too dificult", its just bad.The second one was a huge improvement though.
>>742046395Enemy initiative is unknown before the turn starts so it's really preferable that your characters doing some kind of combo are as close as possible to each other in initiative order otherwise enemies might completely fuck up the board, clog the doorway, eat your elements and so on.
