2013. That's fucking 13 years. I LOVED GTA 4 as a kid, I really did. To this day, it's my comfort game. I was SO excited for 5, at the time it was my entire life, just waiting for that game. Watching the trailer over and over. Then, when it came out, I remember I prepared a bunch of food. I intentionally grabbed a food that I wanted to mentally associate with the game, I don't know why. I got to the part where you're doing missions for Lester trying to set up a heist when I realised that I wasn't enjoying the game. The story just sucked, I hated all the characters, the fighting was terrible, the driving was too arcadey, the physics were a huge downgrade, I can go on and on. SO MUCH about the game was just a massive fucking step down, and it's like nobody else can see it. People see a bigger, more diverse map and just immediately assume its better. (Even when interiors and non existent. And no, a loading screen followed by being stuck in a room where you can't even fucking run around or shoot doesn't count as a proper interior. I mean ones you can just walk into like 4.)For THIRTEEN fucking years since then, I've had to sit and listen again and again to how amazing GTA 5 is despite being a massive downgrade in so many aspects compared to four. I've made entire Youtube videos on it, where I've scripted and put together all the aspects and small reasons why GTA 5 is a worse experience than GTA 4. At this point, I'm happy for GTA 6 to come out solely because it'll put an end to the saga of having to hear about GTA 5. Best case scenario is for GTA 6 to improve on so much shit that people look back at 5 and finally see how dogshit it is. More likely it'll be another dogshit, mediocre game that we'll have to tolerate for another 10 years.

V never clicked with me, and I wasn't even insanely hyped and had moon-high expectations. Dialed up everything was. Every scene involved absurd parody of something irl, or people yelling at each other. I also just never clicked with any of the characters. Franklin was the only protagonist I felt even semi-relatable and likable. Michael was straight up a villain, and not even a sympathetic one. Trevor felt out of place, and he's the reason I will never go back and play V because I always remember "that part" where you HAVE to play his fucking trailer park arc and can't see/do anything else until you do his missions. I think my main problem with the story was the whole "heist" central plot never felt earned. The bank heist in IV was great, and it really felt unique because it was one of a kind in the game itself. It was my favorite mission in all of IV, probably the one I remember the most. In theory, if all the heists in V felt that good, it should've blown IV out of the water. Last, shooting in V just feels like a straight up downgrade. Not sure if it is how weightless everything feels, or the physics of actually shooting people compared to IV.
