How is your 2.1 Factorio holding up?
>>
>>742262739
Its not, i no longer have time to sink hours upon hours into building factories
>>
I’m hundreds of hours into my first 2.0 space age playthrough and I’ve finished Aquilo and I just have to build a ship that will get to the edge. I’m thinking about upgrading but I’m worried the new input/output will break all my Gleba shit

Dont be, gleba is the best and most fun of all the new planets.
People cry about it because unlike before where you can work it out as you go, you need to figure out what you are doing before you start everything up or it will stall.
And they are too low IQ to do this.

Why do people say this
Even the biggest giga retard can do anything with bots. Allowing logistic bots to move intermediaries was a huge blunder by the devs, it completely trivializes the game for anything but megabases.
>>
>>742263660
isn't the throughput of bots very low compared to belts'?
>>
>>742263660
bots is fulgora not gleba, you've mixed up your bait.

It really doesn't matter for a normal game, bots are cheap you can easily build thousands of them.

I have no free time left for factorio. It's gotten boring anyway, it's basically a reskin of programming.
>>
>>742263902
horrifying
on the plus side tho, no more mosquitoes in that area
>>
The problem I had with Gleba was finding a place to build the base, it’s either giant swaths of purple with no green, or vise versa, and the border areas have shit land, so eventually I just said fuck it and built trains and used circuits to sync deliveries. Also I have artillery set up but if stompers attack at the current evolution I’ll probably be overrun
>>
I've played maybe ~80 hours over the last year or so, but I feel like I really struggle to get into and through the "midgame".
Does anyone have any tips on how to best manage organizing things or taking advantage of trains?
I usually get to a point where I'm neck deep in spaghetti and desperately need to reorganize, but get a little overwhelmed and indecisive around how to best use trains and approach logistics. Do you prefer to smelt on site? Do you bring raw ore to a smelting location? Do you have trains feed other trains? Different train systems per resource?
>>
>>742266160
Smelting on a smelting location is probably simpler but the fun of the game is doing it your way.
Trains bring in ore to smelters -> plates come out and are consumed by assemblers. Just make a main bus dude.
>>
>>742262739
I started a new save and I completely forgot how much the early game sucks so now I'm just gonna rush building a spaceplatform and set up base on Vulcanus
>>
>>742263660
I didn't make it to bots
>>
I already finished spaceage fully. Currently play gregtech new horizons to further fuel my factory autism
>>
>>742266364
I've been using a main bus, but I typically end up running out of space. It's simple enough to clear out room or make space for the bus itself, but I think I struggle mostly with finding efficient or scalable ways to introduce new mining and resource spots into the bus. I should probably make bigger sections dedicated to each kind of resource downstream of the bus, but it feels daunting. Doesn't help that I typically can only dedicate an hour or so to a session, so it can feel tough to pick up where I left off or get significant work done
>>
>>742262739
I literally just finished Space Age after two months of playing it after work nonstop.
I'm not coming back for a while, although the planets being visible from space sounds neat.
>>
>>742266409
Going back to the game sucks so much when you know how good lategame is
>Oh great burner machines
>Yay I move like a lazy elephant
>Oh boy slowly going through basic science
>Is dat a COAL POWERED STEAM ENGINE!? Yes it is, enjoy having that shit pile power your base for hours.
>>
Gleba is so cash. I did it after fulgora, so my solution was to make a giant circular main bus and then use splitter input and output weighting where items enter the bus to keep new product moving onto the bus while old overflow product goes to a breakdown depot. For iron and copper I just spun up/down production facilities based on my buffer stocks.
Overproduction and spoilage are non-issues if you just remember none of that matters if you keep backup systems in place to just destroy it.
This has the side effect of creating a massive spore cloud, which means you will have lots to shoot at, but thats just more ways to waste the production you dont really need at any given point.
Fucking amazing. Filling up belts for no better reason then to have it all crushed and burned. Not even for science. Thousands of items per second burning and smashing because that is funny.

You need to learn to set up a good two lane train system because once it's down expanding it to other resource patches is pretty trivial. Have trains bring in raw ore, smelt it in your base, feed your bus with said plates. A patch of ore completely covered in miners will get you pretty far.
Keep it simple, have each distant ore patch have a station, assign a train to rotate between picking up at said ore patch station and dropping off at the dropoff point before your smelters.
>>
Is it just me or is nilaus fucking infuriating to watch?
>>
>>742266667
i recommend working in right angles, so all your train stations are in a line north to south, and they put ore onto a line that runs east to west, and then the furnace stacks output plates north to south, and then subfactories split off the bus east to west, ect, so if you need more stations, just build more north/south, and such. youll still have space constraints so ultimately it is always going to be a matter of giving yourself way more space than you think you need between everything. you may also want to set some objectives beforehand like science per minute so you can calculate how many buildings/stations/furnaces/whatever you need beforehand to take some pain off scaling

>>
>>742274503
It's one of design patterns, so to speak. Once you get to medium-sized base, you need to organize it one way or another to not get entangled in spaghetti. If you want to do something different, go past the bus towards city blocks.
>>
>>742269763
The longer you put off using belts properly instead of putting on diaper using logistic chests for spoilage you're just going to suffer more from it.
Learn the fucking planet, retard. It's the easiest one in the whole expansion for a reason.
>>
trying too hard
>>
>>742274503
Generally a bus is just the simplest way to handle a factory to beat a game. You can do like city blocks and put everything on trains, or go nuts with a MASSIVE spagetti monstrosity. Put everything on logi bots is also doable. There are multiple ways to do things in factorio but in general its mostly just a trade off between ease, extensibility, and efficiency. Main buses are just RETARDIDLY easy to do and can be expanded very easy as well. They dont scale insanely hard but for the purposes of your average player, beating the game, its more than enough and again braindead easy.
>>

>Gleba is the best planet!!!
>>
>>742262997
Gleba is super easy if you just make science packs and feed it everything else needed from other planets. Its literally just a biochamber each to
>crush yamako
>crush jellynut
>make bioflux
>make nutrients from bioflux
>breed eggs
>make science pack
Once you have a good handle on that, you can start thinking of making rocket components planetside. Or just ignore it and ship them from Vulcanus, lol.
>>
>>742274503
Nope, not in space age. You should be piping liquid metals with foundries and producing components onsite.
>>
>>742262997
Gleba easily has some of the best tech unlocks, and it's definitely the most satisfying to see everything you put together working perfectly so it never stalls
>>
>>742285104
Its, odd, it has some really good stuff, but vulkanus for me has priority because its so easy to produce massive amounts of shit there. And after that fulgora, because I love the fucking item shredder and EM plants for extra chips. So even if gleba is really fun to work on, it always ends up being my last planet.
>>
>>742285412
I normally end up going to it first since to me, it feels the easiest to become self-sufficient first, and has a pretty low bar of what's needed to setup initially.
