What you playing unc? I've been getting balls deep in mass effect legacy edition. I didn't realize how short these games were until now. When I was a kid they felt like they were 40 hours plus.
I'm playin Starfield in VR, which turns it from a mid game into an OK one, but now is a lot more immersive and good to look at.

I am not a boomer, but I will gladly partake in this thread, because talking with my gen makes me die a bit inside. I am playing Cyberpunk 2077 and not really enjoying it anymore. The beginning was solid and without glitches, as I moved on however I am constantly bombarbed with these invisible walls and the AI which can see through walls. I switched off RT and feel some improvement. CP2077 still however is not a good game.
>>742263694I'm finding myself enjoying the shorter more well-paced 15-30 hour RPG these days. When I go back to FF4 or Chrono Trigger, those can be beaten in 20 hours and feel great. >>742263694I'm in a weird place where I'm playing categorically bad games that I do not contest are bad but am kind of in a "fuck it let's play some slop" mood. So right now it's the winning combination of the harry podder game (that honestly while it's not stellar I like how the combat was implemented, shame you can just spam the special move magic over and over), stellaris and fucking starfield.I've always had a huge soft spot for space games, this does not make playing starfield any better but I can at least derive small pleasure making my ship while wondering how the fuck they made a resource-collection system worse than fallout 4 after fallout 4 came out and was made by the same company. How the fuck does that even happen. Anyway I suspect I'll escape this fresh hell and play Kotor II for the 111th time. Playing mostly ps2/ps1 games lately. Death by Degrees and a lot of Devil May Cry. I got a couple handhelds for emulation and it has helped me immensely with that. But I'm getting a little drained and I need to switch it up. I'm eyeing that game Menace. I definitely don't need any new games. I bought twelve games yesterday. But then again... Hooded Horse doesn't really fuck around, Overhype Studios has not fucked around since their inception. It's a perfect storm of non-fuckery.
I’m 39 and I need to do exercise every day or I get a sore back/hips. When I was on my 20’s or early 30’s I could literally stay up gaming till 4am in the morning, eat like garbage and I would still feel great. Now, not so much.

You will feel helpless and the game will feel cheap and shallow, pointless, initially. This is more hardcore than fucking Morrowind. It takes a lot of work and progress to get you started with a decent weapon, an actual armor, enough STR to overcome enemy defense rating, and to actually learn the nuances of combat, the timing of your swings, and your block (dodging backward is easier though). It doesn't fucking matter if you're building a brawler or melee or fucking stealth ninja or sniper or guns blazing maniac, the enemy AI is fucking too stupid and generic to adapt to your builds. You're gonna fucking stomp them anyway regardless of shit. A good game with good AI and enemy/game/objective design will have certain enemies that only have certain weakness/strength that could counter your build, a lore/story related options related to your choices and a penalty system if you decided to do x, y or z on resolving and clearing certain objective / areas etc. It will adapt to your build as is, letting you actually roleplay the builds. >>742267328Playing Dark Souls 1 / Remastered blind was magical. It truly felt like I was in a fucking adventure, a journey (also spiritual walk). I played it after Sekiro so that was 2019. I knew Fromsoft was something special right then and there, 10 years late, yet it made more sense today and it was then. Sorry but Demon Tower / King's Field games weren't phenomenal. Neither are all the Indie KF clones that are produced today with more polish. The KF games are way more niched and too basic to enjoy. From the basic combat to basic roleplaying (RPG classes, stats) and even more backbone lore and fragmented story even by Fromsoft standard, the KFs games made exactly like cookie cutter generic games. Souls transcended and ascended beyond that KF formula into actual something with actual form and actual substance, actual lore actual characters, actual story, actual NPCs, actual combat and builds that uniquely differs from one another.

I don't even know about the modding scene these days but it was fun to look around at new vegas mods and what people would make. Everything about technology is just pushing people farther apart, even the brown and bloom crap filter era of 7th gen had active multiplayer scenes despite the games being janky looking back now. >>742270627The first one is a given, for its time. They were "developing" developers that started from the STALKER series and splintered into the group that made Metro. So the jank is justified. STALKER was infamous for janks too, the first game was in development hell since 2001 mind you, completely rebuilt in 2005 before releasing as the buggy in 2007. So really, it was really bad time to debut that late considering Crysis was releasing at the same time. Ironic considering Metro series kinda became the next Crysis for game technology for the next installments as we moved forward then. Metro 2033 and Last Light are actually good. The story gives you chills and goosebump kinda good. The one that can't be justified is fucking Exodus. Sure it had all the tech art and eye candies, but having the same shitty on-rail, linear sequences and shitty AI this late in the gaming scene / era? What? Unforgiveable. Nothing was improved in Exodus. It still feels as aged as the first Metro and you can still feel some of the faint jank programming / clunky controls they had since the STALKER eras.

Played a little bit of Ubermosh, which is pretty cool, sort of Crimsonland turbo mode, surprised that I've never heard about it before. Sir, We Have An Orc Problem demo was decently amusing in a "relax and watch it unfold" kind of way. >>742277286it is just a random game i played on gamepass a few years ago, not sure what your on about.
1988 hereI'm almost 40 and STILL can't get into CRPGs or even CRPG "lites".I tried playing BGDA2 and after making my character and party started the tutorial in that dungeon but as more characters came I realized I probably should have played 1 instead first so I got that and started playing it but same once I got past the tutorial and am on my way to some town they told me to go I picked up 2 random dudes who wanted me to go to some other town in a completely opposite direction and the combat still feels weird with dice rolls but not really? Or I guess automatic dice rolls? At any rate I gave up however the story doesn't yet yet I then tried a more "lighter" version from what people were saying with Neverwinter Nights. I again had fun making my char then did the tutorial and stuff and made my way through now kind of understanding the combat a bit more but then I get to the area where there's like a prison break or something and I just simply don't get it there's like 15 prisoners at once running at you and you can only "dice" combat them 1 at a time. I hadn't gone back to it since repeatedly dying to some big guy and his 10 mobs in the underground dungeon. However I have beaten BGDA1 and 2 and even CON and Hero RTA multiple times which I know are completely different but I say it to sort of show how different my feelings are towards attempts at CRPGs.Anyways /blog but at least it was very vidya related and the point is if anyone else experienced this or what am I doing wrong?tl;dr: tried many times to play CRPGs, always fail and go back to hack n slash ARPGs

At best theres some abilities that shuffle the order of rooms around because the main gimmick is killing an enemy/taking an item destroys that spot pulling everything in that direction one tile closer to you.Its like if someone made a turn based dungeoncrawler but all the rooms look like dice so everyone thinks its Dicey Dungeons.

With another year of development I think a lot more people are going to agree with me on this.

>>742263694Got Infernax on the sale to play co-op with my son. It has been ok so far but man, newer devs just don't know how to balance anything. The game is supposed to be similar to Castlevania II, but every single screen has 20+ enemies on it (and they are always the same 3 or 4 enemies over and over). It is bad when the original CVII has more mob variety than your modern era game and honestly it also has better enemy placements / density to it. We have only played it for about two hours so far and we have already killed nearly 1000 of the flying eyeballs that are literally everywhere on every screen. That aside, the game is otherwise fine. The boss fights are the highlight so far but I fear that there won't be many of them. "A love letter to old school Castlevania" this is not.
I never hated boomers. I always enjoyed their stuff. I am glad I got to enjoy Civilization V (developed by boomers). The newer Civ games (VI and VII) can't hold a candle to V. I think Civilization V is one of the most beautiful turn based strategey games in recorded history.

>>742270126I bounced off Star Fox 64 due to the graphics, and this is coming from someone who recently finished the OG FF7 without any of the QoL additions. The OG SF64 would have been an excellent arcade game, assuming Nintendo would have made the most of the hardware.Star Fox '26 is great - the voice acting warrants a few nitpicks, but it's not egregious. I think the character models are charming and the visuals are excellent. I think the music should be nominated for an award - it's an excellent adaptation of the original work. However, the game does feel rigid in some places - not a lot of customization in terms of UI, button mapping (outside of Pro 2 controller mapping), and the barebones, albeit very fun, multiplayer mode.I'm hoping they treat it as a platform and add more content in the future - it deserves it. If you have a Switch 2, pick up a copy.

>>742263694Reporting in and I'm tired of being gaslit by people especially this board into thinking OLD GOOD NEW BAD is wrong. I have recently been going back and playing a lot of old games especially ones that I missed growing up poor without consoles or good PCs and even though I have never played these games before they're so much better and more fun than most games out today. You can't even call it nostalgia because I never played them before. My current game is Link's Awakening on the GBC. My dad always said why would he ever buy me a handheld game when the family imac with shit like nanosaur and bugdom was enough. I never knew what I missed but so far LA has been one of the best Zelda games I ever played. It's so charming in its simplicity but also well designed and just fun to play and keep playing to explore and see what new places there are and fun items to pop up and use. Again it can't be nostalgia I literally never played these games before. Old games are just objectively better.

Have maxxed out the very rich very moist farmland near my settlement at this point, so im looking at starting work on a canal that can moisten the rest of that really fertile crescent to the south and west of town. Slow going after I almost caused a food crisis after immigrating too eagerly to set up the distilleries and clay pit. Just gotta wait for kids to grow up and get to WORK!
>>742285629>the kind of gameplay that's more like sitting in the garden yanking weedsIs that really gameplay though :|
>>742286009>>742285967we're engaging with each other on two different levels so we're at an impasse. i'm a superior being to you and you are below me. so we are mutually unintelligible. if you want to make it about le bantz or whatever fine we can do that
>>742285067congratulations that you didn't watch any big popular movies or youtubers when you were young who in passing you found hot, I guess. if you want me to give you the>you are the bigger autistaward, please feel free to consider this post that.>>742284790I've been out of the game a hot minute, but most people here are smart enough to unfuck their dating life if they commit to making that an intentional goal. If you're a 5, I promise you that your 4 is out there.>I don't want a 4then take concerted action to stop being a 5.>>742284813I don't see it so negatively, it's more a "if you want kids, you will be playing life differently based on this". No woman you'd actually want to have kids with is going to tolerate a broke-boy loser slinging treehouse dick around town, family wanters want family men and if you want a family, you want a family wanter as she's gonna do way better than whatever cooze you'll scrounge up living like this.Fuck around a bit to get it out of your system, but there's only so many times you can talk about zodiac signs with a crystal chick, then watch 15 minutes of dodgeball, then make out, then cowgirl on her couch in her messy sadgirl apartment, before it starts getting old. >>742284898this is part of it too and sucks
>>742285270Ya and your mom should of swallowed but sadly we don't get what we want.
>>742286116This looks like the kind of stuff I want to play. Thank you anon.
>>742286174You have eyes but can't see Mount Tai.
>>742286174go to bed grampa, you're hallucinating again
>>742286174I would've thought at 30+ you wouldn't engage bait like this; who cares if anyone's bald? Who cares if someone calls you out on... enjoying your time on a board past a certain age? Just ignore.I need a new cozy, yet difficult forever game. I've been meaning to get back into Cogmind (90ish hours in, I did the easy ending once), but it's pretty demanding of your time and efforts!
>>742263694Been mostly playing indie games. I've discovered a few that I really like. They're like, "Strategy RPG, Roguelite, Deckbuilding, Turn-Based/Auto-Battler" games, pretty much, but it's kind of a hyper specific niche that I particularly enjoy, where essentially the game is to craft builds for a character. Just rpg character build crafting, pretty much is a core aspect of what I look for in games, I think that's really fun, especially if there's a lot of combinations and synergies to experiment with.So the games I've found that I think are good and I'd very much recommend to anyone are these: SOLARFLARE, Dungeon 100, Dungeon Exiles, Megaloot, Overlooting, and Unloved. All those indie games are great, imo, very creative and unique with addicting game loops.
>>742286280Sure thing, enjoy. Im a pussy pacifist homesteader and all my citizens are free but there's a lot of options for the kind of city state you wanna build. Good luck
>>742282352>>742279432Gambling is one thing, but we all know they play that shit for ass, or even worse, for the illusion of access to aesthetic women..Uncs on their way out drooling over young aesthetic women has to be the worst concept ever..
>>742263694finished fallout 1 for the 10th time a few days ago, now am playing through dying light 2 for the first time, hated the start but now its slowly getting better
>>742286642choosing peace instead of going out to purge the world what a coward.
>>742274983snowrunner is great but god damn it requires a lot of time which I don't have with kids currently. nowadays I need quick shit I can reliably pause and quit so I'm playing Sam and Max episodes
>>742282089Maybe you’re going too fast. I had to ease back into it. I had to do a lot of walking. I don’t run for more than 30 minutes either because I don’t want to burn muscle
Forza Horizon 6 and putting fat anime titty skins on all my cars
>>742286924I chose the hobbit coded race, so we're happy to eat and drink and skinny dip while the rest of the world burns itself down. Ive got hyper militant bug people neighbor cities at both entrances into my valley and they love me cuz I give them stuff now and again so Ive got a buffer.
>>742286218if you want a family you're low T. treehouse dick slinger for life.>>742286458indies suck dude
>>742287610That’s fine too, just make sure you mean it.Perma-bachelor “fuck anyone who’s down” do well, wife guys do well, people who try to switch mid-stream learn they get the scraps of the other two groups, who can smell out>oh, they didn’t want you, huh?And who were judged likewise in kind.
>>742286116I did two runs, and one run shot me up to 500+ people. But then my economy collapsed rapidly, but cannibalism always caught me, only to regrow. It was so absurd that I gave up. Oh, and there was a mad neighbor who ended it.
>>742263694Sacred Stones, Mina, and MecChameleon with the friends.
>>742287610>indies suck dudeYeah, for the most part, you're right A lot of the time, I find myself returning to Dark Souls or Dota 2 or something instead of playing indie games
>>742286116My autism prevents me from doing anything except multicultural cities.Which is hard mode.
