What's /v/ consensus about this game?
here on chins we call it Simon Seziro
>>742286306parryslop for parryslopper-hey-look-at-me-I-parry-therfore-am-strong look mom!!
Fromsoft's tightest game
>>742286306the consensus is some autistic schizo shit like positioning doesn't matter and the game boils down to pressing the right buttons at the right time as if that doesn't also apply to every other game ever made.
Pure, unadulterated kino
too hard for me
>>742286572Have you tried playing more than 5 games in your life
>>742286306Way easier than people try to claim it is. Anyone calling it Fromsoft's hardest is delusional and trash at games.
hesitation is the feet
>>742286306A fucking great action game that Fromsloppers hate because they can’t use cheese builds and summons to steamroll it while bragging about their imaginary skill, they just have to learn the patterns and execute consistently, which 95% of /v/ simply cannot do.Sekiro filtered the shit out of me the first time I played it, but it wound up being one of my favorite games ever
>>742286306Love it. Senpou temple is one of my favorite levels in a From game, it's so beautiful & creepy at the same time
Its kino & it filters all the right people
>>742287442>Sekiro filtered the shit out of me the first timeBWAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHA
>>742286306its great,wish there was more
>>742286306The best fromsoftware game to ever exist. And as >>742287442 said, it filters the ever living fuck of the avarage dark souls player because you simply just need to get good
>>742286306>real humans Love it>botsshitpost about (((slop)))
>>742287151This game is very different once you understand the combat, but it's the most fun and rewarding when you realize it's not complicated.
Why do so many people that hate the game reduce it to parryslop? Are they same people who do nothing but roll and press R1 once to punish in Elden Ring? Did I just imagine the prosthetic tool and skill tree systems?
>>742287442I think this is a gross generalization. A lot of fromslop fans enjoy the rollslop formula and also had fun with Sekiro. Most people don't hate Sekiro. it's different enough that some don't like it yes, but...you're acting like all Fromslop fans hate this game, which they don't.
>>742286306The quintessential parryslop game and one of the best in the genre
>>742287442>they can’t use cheese builds and summons to steamrollWhere does this misconception come from? Every once in a while you see some uppity fromtard say that "well you can't cheese Sekiro which is why it's sooo much better" but you can very easily cheese through the game. There are tons of cheesy tactics in the game.
>>742286306Good game held back by the fact that it doesn't have builds, and thus has no replay value.
>>742287560SEENPOOUU-JIIIIIIIIIII
>>742290667>What, you didn't go out of the way to use special moves that suck ass and never have utility, or use the ones that are basically cheating and have zero fun during battles?
Fromsoft needs to go back and make more focused games like Sekiro. The Elden Ring and live-service online thing they've got going on for the past couple of years is terrible.I hope Duskbloods will be the end of that and we'll see more exciting stuff from them after that game.
The superior Sekiro
>>742290938Lol, you are definitely the kind of person who cried when people used weapon skills and spirit ashes to steam roll a boss you spent hours on.
>>742290839Shhh no one here has played it and you’re going to make them upset
>>742291089I don't even know what the fuck you're talking about, genuinely. All the bosses in Sekiro where easiest to fight by parrying and attacking, I don't even remember what spirit ashes do
>>742291382Elden Ring stuff. Yeah, the extra abilities in Sekiro are often straight up detrimental over the your basic moves.
>>742291046China
>>742286572>Gradius>positioning doesn't matter>game boils down to pressing the right buttons at the right time
>>742286306Like the game, the fans are the worst people on the planet
>>742290667>Did I just imagine the prosthetic toolYou mean the thing that only counters specific enemies that the tool was designed for>and skill tree systems? You mean the thing that you can only have one at a timeIt's crazy how limited Wo Long is and it's still infinitely more free than this
>>742286306It's fun. I tried doing a charmless run and got to the corrupted monk
>>742287151when you first start playing Sekiro it feels like the hardest From game. once you fully understand the mechanics it suddenly feels like the easiest From game. For me the turning point was realizing getting my own posture broken wasn't actually a big deal, so i should go nuts guarding and trying to parry even if i'm about to get posture broken.
>>742294051>You mean the thing that you can only have one at a time??? anon, you can put points in every skill tree.
>>742286306ROBAHTOOOOOOOO
>>742286306It's the best FromSoft game that actually fulfills the requirements of being a GAME, instead of just having a shitty half-assed RPG that relies on you exploiting cheese builds to steam roll poorly paced boss encounters.
>>742297387>having my posture broken wasn't actually a big deal
>>742287151I remember when it was released and people were review bombing it because it was "too hard" with the majority of them bitching about there being no summonable companions. These are the same people boasting how Dark Souls is the hardest game ever made that only real gamers can beat.
Bop it, twist it, Pull it
>>742286306All the worst aspects of Tenchu.None of the fun elements of Tenchu.Claims to be It's spiritual successor.Dreadful boss fights that it just spams you with.
>>742300572Wow anon, you're really clever, and I can hardly tell that you're seething.
>>742286306Good gameBad people who complain about it
It's brilliant and I still hope for a sequel. Apparently the anime is going for Purification so that's not a good sign as far as hinting at a sequel goes.
I can’t beat that guy on the rooftop… Genchiro I think
>>742286306Good but a little too simple IMO
My consensus is that I didn't read the thread but also that you only ever need to fight the Demon of Hatred normally once and then every other playthrough you do you can cheese him and it still counts because he is a bullshit fight with too much HP. Thanks for asking and reading.
>>742301347I'd say he's the hardest boss in the game, mostly because you're forced to learn the combat in order to beat him. Everything afterwards isn't as hard because now you've (hopefully) learned to stop playing the game like it's Dark Souls.
>>742301485It's an optional fight, you can literally just not fight him and still finish the game. Glitching the fight is an admission of defeat.Still fun to glitch it, though, so whatever. Sekiro's movement is fun enough that it has these opportunities. Like cheesing the first Monk fight, it's a glitch, it's cheating, but it's still more fun than just fighting phase 1 Monk one extra time.My favorite probably unintended boss fight thing is ignoring the lightning for a while in the Divine Dragon fight and just hanging around on the ground until he does the dive attack to hit you with his face, avoiding it, and then doing either Mortal Draw or Ichimonji on his neck, does a ton of posture damage, and by the time you get it you'll have two or three lightning reversals lined up to finish the job.
>>742286306too expensive
>>742301485I'll undo the charmless/demon bell when I go against him these days, saving him for last. Already beat him a few times on charmless/demon bell, and it's never fun. But on regular mode its easy with fire umbrella + whistle for the last phase.
>>742301485I never struggled with him mostly due to fire umbrella. It really nullifies several of his attacks and gives you free damage when you send it back at him. thanks for coming to my ted talk
>>742286306>What's /v/ consensus about this game?Kino of the highest order
>>742286306Good concept wasted on ching Chong culture brain rotI wish there was a Bloodborne game with that mechanic or something in a western setting.I hate this ninja and karate shit with their dumb ass masks and the haeeeiiiii hayaaaah yoooooooooo shit.
>>742286306mediocre parryslop
>>742286306it was more kino than it was fun
>>742305615>japan>ching chong
absolute garbage that you hate the first 2 hours... until it clicksthat every other from game is 2/10 compared to it
>>742305615Sengoku is kino
>>742286306Sekiro's default controls really get in the way of player expression. I always recommend everyone trying it or bouncing off of it first messes with the button layout until they're comfortable. I put dodge on L1, Swap Prosthetic on L2, block on B, and grapple on Y.You might not need to be able to shuriken, sprint, jump then use the momentum to swap and launch a flying axe straight into a bozo's face from a million miles away while freely turning your camera and aiming your trajectory to beat the base difficulty of the game, but it feels fucking great and opens you up to discovering all sort of hidden interactions. Is it the most intricately designed combat system ever? No, but does it have to be?Shit's fun.
Senior and DS1 are by far the best two FS games
>>742307715A couple of bosses are so much easier unlocked. This has always been true for From's games, but I guess the other ones were never challenging enough without playing unlocked for people to come to that conclusion naturally.I'd see people struggling on minibosses like Ogre or the Drunkard and they just can't keep up with you if you simply dodge to their back whenever they try to grab you instead of sitting there.I would just claw the controller before but getting a pad with extra back/shoulder buttons is really worth it in general, and From's games are some of the ones that benefit the most from it.Lock-on is a mechanic like any other and should be turned on or off depending on the situation, but because of how much more of the controller you can use when you don't have to worry about the right stick, people end up never learning that.
>>742286306Kinot. old man that wasn't filtered
>>742286306it's really good. i think people who want all souls games to be like this are fucking idiots though.
It's fucking amazing but gets shit on by people who think TW3 and Skyrim are good games with good combat
>>742286306Can't bring myself to beat Sekiro. I think I'm just tired of souls slop
>>742286306Sekiro is THE video game.
>>742314908You could bring yourself to be a faggot though, LOL!
>>742314908it's not a souls game genius
>>742286306>What's /v/ consensus about this game?We call it SeKINO around here
this and bloodborne are the only fromsoft games I want a sequel from
>>742314908>I think I'm just tired of souls slopif that were true sekiro would be a breath of fresh air to you
>>742286306kino of the highest order, I'm excited for the anime.
>>742286306A rare true 10/10, it's so unbelievably good. Especially the bosses. Genichiro, SS Isshin and Owl Father are some of the best bosses not just from Fromsoft, but video gaming in general. Parrying Headless apes's overhead slam or Genichiro's spam combo feel orgasmic, so few games can achieve that high. I'm watching the anime day 1 and preordering Sekiro 2 instantly.
Trying to do the gauntlets of strength currently.Cannot defeat inner ishin.Save me
>>742316461I really disliked Owl Father, he runs away the whole fight. and you have to wait for the bird each time when it flies around
shit made me feel like a real samurai
>>742287151The game is brutal until you get good at it but once you do even tough enemies that previously slaughtered you will feel easy, it's really well designed in that regard.
>>742316568He tends to reset to neutral after a parry. Don't give him the parry.
>>742316540mortal draw that bitch
>>742316540his perilous ashina art is the only real changeup. when he puts the sword over his head with the perilous, you know it's definitely not the spear's stab you mikiri. backstep immediately when you see him put the sword straight up on the left side (his right arm), he also starts grunting I think depending on the mixup. once he jumps in the air it's either an ashina art you can parry with awkward timing OR there's a second perilous warning and it's an easy mikiri counter so you can stand your ground.the rest of his moveset is the same, the regular perilous sweep and perilous mikiri you should know by now. once you get to lightning phase it should be in the bag, gl>>742317086I'll load it up sometime and give that a try
>>742286306Fun enough for what it is, which is simplistic parry shit. I just wish it hadn't spawned a bunch of cheap knockoffs.
Shit until you realize that the tutorials are garbage and don't teach you some of the most important stuff while getting other things wrong.
>>742317356Just to clarify, by not give him the parry I mean that he always blocks a hit before he deflects. Stop attacking after he blocks and wait for his response. He'll usually attack you back after a block, but try to fuck off after a parry.
>>742317779elaborate?>>742318087yep got it. interesting, I usually keep on the pressure anyway, probably would never have tried that. hesitation is.....victory
>>742286306Best gameplay out of all fromsoft games
>>742286306I managed to beat stellar blade on normal, tho I did use WB pumps, can I beat this?
>>742318272Two of the most important things are>big spark and deep *clong* during parry = perfect parry, big spark and deep *clong* when attacking = enemy is going to counter - stop attacking, idiot, and start to parryand>enemy above 75% HP - fast poise recovery, around 50% - normal recovery, below 30something - no recoveryThe latter only gets a vague mention during loading screens so if your newbie ass is listening to people telling you "just L1spam them to death, lol" you'll get nowhere. As for the tutorials, there's stuff like lightning reversal that tells you to block in the air first which you don't really need to do and Mikiri counter telling you to push the stick forward while pressing the button because it triggers by dodging into the attack but just pressing the button already does that.
>>742318624I just played Stellar Blade (also on normal) and no. Sekiro is much more focused. That being said it does give you a decent taste of the parrying probably. Sekiro is much harder and faster, the things I struggled with more were getting used to reading tells for sweeps you jump, stabs for mikiri, etc. The parries are important yes but there's a lot more going on as well. If you liked the parrying in SB you'll love it more in Sekiro probably. but also keep in mind Sekiro doesn't crush you immediately it gets harder as it goes with several notable bumps in difficulty, but you might still die a bit on the first miniboss that filters a good chunk>>742318871listening for the enemy parrying you and knowing you're getting attacked next isn't explicitly said, yes. I didn't have a problem with that because you learn it pretty quickly while playing, but I get the complaint. I mean they do explain the stamina to health correlation a little bit like you said but I guess for the amount of popups they have there should just be one in the beginning. Neither is super obscure but it could do a better job maybe. the lightning thing is pretty BS from what I remember, I never block in the air lol. can't remember the mikiri one I just hit B with correct timing
>>742318871Also, the translation is garbage and feels like multiple people were working on it but never together so you get like three different versions of the same term or stupid things like some dying guy going "my neck, my neck..." when he's actually referring to the head/neck of a certain boss.
>>742286306Unadulterated KINO
>>742291046chingchong shit
>>742286306bought it, never played it.
>>742286306One of the best games ever. Simple as that
The setting and story is cool and a nice change of pace from the generic faceless knight shit but it's still parryslop at the end of the day. Thankfully the game ended right as it wore its welcome out.
One of the few FromSoft games I played to NG+7, with the demon bell and charm handicap too. I never really used prosthetic tools or combat arts much aside from the shuriken to hit jumping enemies.I didn't find the Inner versions of bosses as enjoyable to fight as their normal versions. I think it's cool that the dev added new attacks to bosses in the first place, but I remember them being more flashy than enjoyable to fight. What did other anons think of them?sex with Kuro
>>742318871>The latter only gets a vague mention during loading screens so if your newbie ass is listening to people telling you "just L1spam them to death, lol" you'll get nowhere.I remember it getting brought up during the Lady butterfly fight and seeing her posture recover instantly gave me a clear message of hit her first so your posture damage sticks, it's case by case when it matters and you're told about it in the first case it really matters.
>>742286306Why the fuck did From decide to make the footstool so damn powerful....
Sekiro is beautiful. Combat is great. Exploration is fun. It's a solid game, in fact I will replay it today
>>742317356>>742318087You can jump over his fancy new perilous move and parry his upwards swing as he goes to the air
You did defeat the Demon of Hatred without cheesing him didn't you?
>>742319585idk I have trouble getting into self-imposed challenges. If the game explicitly says "try to beat this" I'll do it for hours until I win. if it says "you can ring this bell....if you want" I don't care about it. I had a lot of fun with ichimonji double, sakura dance, and mortal draw. I have no idea if they're meta or not but they're fun. the inner versions weren't really that different...a new attack or two took some practice to learn but it's mostly the same fight so meh. I could have gone without those really>>742319760good to know, I figured that was possible watching a clip of it but never tried cause he's the final boss in mortal journey and I was going for safe and easy ways to deal with it at that point lol
cons>no weapons >no fashion>no easy mode for normal people >too longpros>solid gameplay>first game in a while to make parry fun, after bamham and mgr
>>742286306A decent filter of dindus, faggots, and shitters.Looking forward to the yaoi anime on the works.
>>742286306Herro goy!Do you rike what Im drawing for you?
>prominently features grappling hook>handful of random parts where you have to do Mario64 walljumps insteadwhy
>>742286306Nioh did it better
>>742320380no grapple point
>>742320468Then fucking add one.
>>742320497why
>>742287768This is still one of the best "FUCK YOU" moments I ever had in Vidya.>Killing monke>Running towards the fog gate>Is not dissipating >Realize that the fucker is not only alive but also turned into nightmare fuel>Proceed to get rapedFUCKING KINO
>>742320416>dropping 69 weapons to pick up loot from the mission because you didn't clear your 600 item inventory that's full for the nth time>0.2% increase in stat wooooo!>visual clutter where you can't even see what's happening in a fight>game breaks once you get a build goingNo. Nioh has better weapons and more interesting stuff going on but better? no, it's not a parry game either so I don't know why you'd compare it. Sekiro is a rhythm game and Nioh is an RPG buff-a-thon with ki pulsing, they're completely different categories
>>742320531Because grappling is already one of your main traversal options to reach higher places. Kicking from wall to wall to move vertically, something you do in like 2-3 places in the entire game, feels completely pointless and superfluous and more like a leftover.
>>742320781I don't think it's that big of a deal, man
>hold button to activate magic vacuum cleanerJust gimme that shit automatically like every other fucking game.
>>742320852Be grateful you are being trained to be a proper irl janny kek
>>742320076I beat MGR on hard and parrying was the worst part the game for me. I don't get the fun in having all fights be QTEs
>>742321126I personally think the parry input in MGR is awkward and silly for how often you're supposed to do it. You can basically option select by pressing forward on the stick every time you light attack.
>>742287151It's the hardest because you can't make a cheese build or summon an NPC or another player to play the game for you. If you compare it to actually playing the souls games then yeah, it's not that hard, but most people who've "played" the souls games haven't actually played them. This is also where 99% of the seething about this game comes from. Retards who think they're hot shit for watching someone else beat the souls games for them and telling people to git gud having to actually git gud themselves for once.
>>742287151People just suck. It was fun but not that hard, like most of their games.
