IT'S BILL!
HEY BILL!
>>
So was the Star Wolf fight on Venom easier than the 64 version or was I just a retarded underageb& all those years ago?
>>
>>742300207
It took you over 20 years to realize you're supposed to spam lasers instead of charged shots since they're programmed to barrel roll whenever you try to use those.
>>

both

who the fuck ever fought star wolf with charged shots?
>>
>>742300207
Your companions are a bit less of a dead weight and may deal some chip damage to Star Wolf when they're not being chased but the fight itself is not noticeably different aside from the frame rate and controls being smoother.
>>
>>742298361
How is he so fucking cool?

64 version is VERY easy once you understand what you're fighting.

They also skipped on a major important piece of Fox's motivation. He became a mercenary because he wanted justice for his father and thought that the Cornerian military was not taking the threat seriously enough, so he dropped out of the academy when he turned 18 and inherited his father's ship. And then, sure enough, Andross invaded the Lylat system and Star Fox was needed. In the remake he just wants money and kind of sleepwalks his way into pursuing Andross rather than being on a personal crusade of any kind.

A bunch of gullible twats were making an sharing fan theory videos because they actually thought there were going to be some earth-changing revelations in SF26 like James McCloud still being alive or some shit like that. There were some annoying changes they made but none of them deserved massive theorycrafting videos or anything like that.

I liked the original Star Fox and how it hinted that James McCloud disappeared near a black hole. It's vague and mysterious enough that whatever you can imagine happened to James is more interesting than having it spelled out to the player. Having Pigma betray James is also a good story beat either combined with or independent of the black hole incident, but in any case, the way they showed Pigma's betrayal was not handled in an interesting or satisfying way. They basically borrowed one of the Order 66 deaths from Star Wars and did it in a less intense or dramatic way.

A Fox In Space, a fan work, handled Pigma's betrayal in a much better way. And again, James' death is ambiguous, but whatever fate the imagination comes up with is way better than something as bland as "he probably got shot down but we don't know."

I like new Fox more
he's kind of a shithead and I like it
if they do more games then he has time to grow into old Fox
but for now he's 18, he's got a massive debt unless Pepper's pay out will cover the cost of the Great Fox, and he was a little tired of hearing stories about how cool James was from Peppy
but then the game happens, he grows into a better leader and maybe he understands James a bit more.

Been cleaning up Expert Mode medals. Just Titania and Sector Z left then never touching Expert again outside of challenge mode sifne the wings breaking so easily is annoying.
>>
If they make a brand new sequel, I want them to go nuts with the split paths, cameos, and general choices and consequences. Could we get another 1 hour arcade game with tons of replayability made with this kind of budget in this day and age?
>>
>>742301309
I saw a claim that your allies become the rival pursuer once you knock their rival below half health and I have spotted that. Honestly the allies are too good on Sector Z, fuckers keep stealing my missile kills when I need them for challenge mode and medals. Have to do a expert run using the Sector X warp just so Katt doesn't help.

>Could we get another 1 hour arcade game with tons of replayability made with this kind of budget in this day and age?
No, lol.

Next game will be a re-imagined mish-mash of Adventures and Assault.
>>
>>742311158
They did that shit in the original too. But they can't help if they're already being chased. Only problem is that being able to see so clearly on Sector Z means that it's weirdly easy to clear out every single enemy in the level now and then you're competing with four other ships for the last three missiles.
Medal's a breeze now that you can actually see the Hit + 2 space junk though.
>>
>>742298361
>Fox accidentally shoots down a Cornerian fighter
NOT A LOT OF LOYALTY FOR A HIRED GUN!
>>
>>742305340
It's not that random. Everyone marks a specific target and Wolf always marks you. After grinding out the miserable Expert challenges for Venom 2, it becomes pretty clear exactly how the fight works. Take out Wolf immediately and it becomes incredibly smooth sailing.
>>

I'm still upset that he actually let Pepper finish what he was saying before blowing him off. Interrupting the moment it becomes clear what he's about to ask was just such a powermove.
>>
>>742311905
Star Fox Assault had balls. It gave the series a direction that it had room to grow in and Nintendo decided to skip an entire console generation for the IP because they couldn't decide who to bum the series off on and they didn't want to dedicate a first party studio to a Star Fox game.
>>
>>742300207
Starfox 64 version was much easier than this one. They changed the AI which doesn't let me cheese through em.
>>
>>742311573
If nintendo really wanted to make another foot shooter they should save that for kid icarus uprising 2 and star fox can remain an on the rails shooter.
>>
>>742308390

They didn't barrel roll charged shots. They simply had a shield that was 100% immune to charge shots & bombs.
They simply barrel rolled once at the beginning of your regular shots, requiring you to consistently hold them in your sites & fire on them rather that get a lucky shot on them once in a while if you play like a sperg.
Really, once you understand that all this means is "chase an enemy down until he's dead" it becomes much easier.

I only recently (within the last three years) finally did the alternate path in Star Fox 64. I always thought you had to somehow force your way into the waterfall on Corneria by flying into it, I never knew you just had to fly under all those earthen archway.

I played Star Fox 64 thousands of times as a kid and thought I was the expert at Star Fox 64 but I literally never figured out how to reach the other alternate planets aside from the obvious ones like the Meteor field, the Independence Day themed level, etc.

It took me 26 years to get to the true ending of Star Fox 64.
>>
>>742313801
Probably they want the Tone to be a mite more serious in case they get to make another game with (hopefully ideally) a new plot for the first time since Command.
New villain, more character interaction, maybe new planets, new mechanics, actually substantially building the world and setting etc.
Well, one might hope anyway.
A less pretentious would be they just wanted the game to be more "adult" since fans of the 64 game must generally be largely in their 30s or 40s by now.

It's programmed for your wingmen to target Star Wolf once you saved them twice (you must get the dialog to confirm it).
The rate they shoot down Star Wolf varies on the pilot. Falco > Slippy > Peppy. Peppy takes forever to down Pigma.
The remake I saved Slippy once from Andrew and he managed to take him down while I was taking down the others. I think your wingmen are more competent here to make you work for those points.
>>
>>742300207
The new fight seems to use the multiplayer AI. I don’t think it’s that hard to win it, still. Getting the medal with single lasers is annoying though, but you can still get the Venom 2 medal if you’re slow on just one Star Wolf member. It puts you at like 180, you get 5 points for both of Andross’ eyes and then 10 for the brain so you hit 200.

Hardest part about expert mode is
>learning where all the flank enemies come from
>dealing with ship-on-ship collisions in all-range mode
The latter just boils down to playing all-range mode safer by acting on the outside and looking at the radar more. Doesn’t impede kill count. Also Gorgon’s tentacles but I just try killing those asap before it can swing a single one.

Funny thing is that Pepper's line is not interrupted in the voice files. The timing was messed up by accident and it just happened to fit perfectly.

I recently got recommended a YouTube short by the algorithm and guy in the video said:
>Erm actually guys, this is her BEST design ever because it makes sense that she'd be a grizzly, unhygienic and gross looking cat cuz she's a space mercenary and she's SUPPOSE to look ugly!
I don't know how I feel about that.

Be honest, you'd buy a remake of adventures if she looked like this.

SF64's is far easier. SF64 had way more lenient hit boxes and Star Wolf in the remake also just actually cheat because they can spam sommersaults and U-turns, their G-Diffusers replenish in like half the time yours do.
In many ways I would say the remake is more difficult to play (particularly the boss fights, the Gorgon on Expert mode is an actual bitch whore who WILL make you drop your laser upgrades), but way easier to medal, especially Sector Z.
