The message which the game just spells out is, hey, stop spinning your wheels and clinging onto all this past shit, move on. They've basically been doing that for the entire Xenoblade series too, but now they're done with the Earth being stuck in pocket dimension and they're ready to tell stories about what happens to the colony ships that left Earth in essence being a sort of "retelling" of Perfect Works, but its going to involve a lot more new stuff and be distinct from it. So like in the trailer to Genesis there's pretty clear homages to stuff in Perfect Works, but it's not going to actually be that.
