Because the series is censored to shit. Remake of the older games? Censored. New entry to the series? Censored.Without their skimpy outfits and Puff-Puff memes, they're the most barebones "Four Niggas in a Row + others work together to defeat the Demon Lord and save the world." Style JRPGs ever. A shame, really. Toriyama put this series on the map.

The games became famous in Japan for having really, really solid and engaging gameplay - much better than the early Final Fantasy games which masked their lack of interesting gameplay with spectacle and story. Today, the gameplay is somehow an afterthought - by DQ11 the games have been made so easy that you can get through without ever thinking at all, and in the new DQ7 remake you can't even die. It's become the FF style walking sim jrpg except it doesnt have any spectacle to keep you interested.
