Double Fine out of all the studios should have been one to fire out games back to back to back on a low budget with artstyle. Instead they got 2 and a half out.

Double fine and all the rest of the studios under closure risk at MS are object lessons on why needing continual investor cash infusions is a huge red flag.
It almost certainly means your games are becoming over-expensive shit that not enough people want to play, and it would be better off for the industry if you closed sooner rather than later.
Because the alternative is your shambling zombie corpse is paraded around for another decade by a megacorp to be a blunt instrument in a slow-burn propaganda campaign.
