From what I understand, Monster Hunter follows a Tick-Tock release
A flagship title, followed by a smaller project, before another flagship title.
Wilds and Worlds are supposed to be the Flagship games, while Rise was primarily made for Switch.

So how is it? Is it at least as big as Worlds? How are the keyboard controls? I expect 75+ hours from it.
I've seen some screenshots and gameplay, and it does kinda look Mobileish.

The Flagship/Portable distinction became irrelevant with 4th gen. They're essentially the same type of game now, the only difference really being aesthetics.

Monster Hunter was ruined as a franchise with World, but that doesn't matter if you're new to the series and started with World or later games. From a gameplay perspective, it's the same, if not more forgiving and easier due to silkbind mechanics. But it's also faster pace. It's not like it's some completely different game. It's the same shit and from the same generation as World. It shares like 90% of it's gameplay and design philosophy.

It's faster which is more fun. It makes the infamously clunky gameplay of normal Monster Hunters feel more modern and smooth. I think it's great, you hardly ever feel like you're on the backfoot in a way that's bullshit. If you're failing it's because you genuinely fucked up, you have the tools to avoid any attack and take advantage of any opening because of the wirebugs. The Palamutes make getting around the maps much more fun, especially when you're playing with others it feels like you're in a warband charging at a breakneck pace to hunt down the monsters. Compared to the other games, it's a more active versus reactive experience. Great for new players and veterans who want a change of pace. Highly recommend.

If you only expect to play a Monster Hunter title for 75 hours, you aren't the kind of person who will enjoy playing Monster Hunter and should find something else.

I got it on my Switch when it was released and thought it would be a chill game, not on par with Worlds, and right now its my most played game on MH series.

Its unironically really good game

It has the best iteration of gunlance ever conceived.

This game broke 4chin and sparked never-ending war between World vs Rise, you will never find a good opinion on the game in this site.
Play it yourself and form your own opinion, the game is dirt cheap nowadays.

I bought it on the Switch then on pc, and I've spent about 300 hours on it. It's quite casual for a MH game but not in a bad way, it never felt outright easy. The world size is about the same as World's but there's more verticality to it. The movement options is the best part of the game. It's "mobileish" in the sense that it was made for the Switch so the graphics are what you would expect from a portable console, and that the hunts last shorter than in past games.

Dude just play it. The wirebug is such an insane gamechanger in marrying so many concepts Capcom introduced that were honestly not fit for the series or not fun while creating a mechanic that allows them to expand the world considerably.

> Mounting introduced in MH4 - boring as shit and put the gameplay to a halt since you couldn't attack the monster when a player was riding on it
> Redesigned as Wyvern Riding where you can relocate the monster to a more serviceable venue, use it to attack other monsters, or just ram it into a wall in less than 5 seconds and be done with it

> Hunter Arts introduced in MH Generations - fun but super moves have no place in Monhun
> Redesigned as silkbind arts where you perform moves in tandem with your wirebugs to do flashy things but still be relatively within the world of Monhun

> 5th Generation produces massive scaling biomes
> Wirebug's mobility lets the designers design even bigger worlds with more verticality as hunters now have the ability to traverse in a fun manner. Exploration beyond learning Monster routes can be a focus allowing Capcom to add in secrets or easter eggs

Off the top of my head. Rise is a super super fun game and I look forward to the wirebug's return with the next Ichinose game.

Rise is better because it doesn't take away control from you while you're playing. Either a cutscene plays or you're playing. It doesn't do the play > take away control > play >take away control bullshit.

I think Rise is pretty fun. There's a couple of points where you could quit if the grind gets to you but I enjoyed myself to get up to about 200 Investigation level before I was getting bored.
Still pretty annoying some of the really good decos are only past that point when you're more or less done with any new content.
>>
I think Rise is somehow my favourite game of all time.
It's just too fun
