It's fun seeing the game generate a track with a death turn that kills almost every CPU racer.
I recently played XF Extreme Formula and would recommend it if anyone is wishing to scratch the F-Zero itch. It only has local multiplayer but the singleplayer modes are substantial and the gameplay adds some nice extra depth to the usual F-Zero racing mechanics. Just ignore the shitty ESL dialogue in the story mode.

The soundtrack is ass, the characters are lame, beat-em up sequences are what you'd expect, shoehorned in. It's exactly the kind of game you'd expect an f-zero tourist to make, someone who has heard of it and thought it sounded cool but never bothered to actually experience and understand the games.Aero GPX is made by a real F-Zero fan, who should hurry the fuck up and finish his game already because it's too good to be stuck in early access limbo for this long. The only F-Zero "spiritual successor" that ever made me feel like the guy making it understands and loves F-Zero, both mechanically and artistically. And yet it's still doing its own thing. The boost mechanic is a great twist on the risk/reward system introduced in X for example, you'd expect the separation of boost and health to water things down but it goes hand in hand with the game being more violent than f-zero in general, rewarding you more for attacking other racers, the fire mechanic, spin attack rail grinding, and the other racers being more aggressive, it turns the risk/reward into a choice when you reach the refill areas because both resources are equally important to win the race. The music is amazing, and I know the art direction isn't for everyone but I enjoy it and there is at least something to it unlike in XF where it's just baby's first blender models, I think the roster needs a few more freaks but I feel like the last 2 batches will deliver on that.

I used to post in every E3 thread saying that this was the year. I did that for more thsn 10 years man. After all this time, I've given up. F-Zero 99 was an awesome distraction, I got around 30 wins in my beloved Blue Falcon before it lost the spice. But its not the same as a flagship new title. These days I barely play vidya games anymore, I'm half afraid if a new one came out that I might not care that much, even if it would have consumed so much of my time if it came out back in the Wii U days. Id still get it at least, but man. It's been brutal as a hardcore F-Zero fan.

>>743212726It has the second best stock MTS after Black Bull (which has the best MTS even if you include custom machines) without being a pig to drive, good weight for speed retention and a long booster, the only thing that brings it down is high acceleration value that brings that speed retention down to merely above average. Last time I checked it's third on the stock max speed leaderboard after Fat Shark (borked booster) and Black Bull (borked MTS), I don't think it actually holds any records because FS dominates most tracks and for the rest GS is just a less extreme BB, but outside of cylinder tracks it's in top 5 on almost all tracks, often second or third.
