>>743214446My favorites from Yume Nikki are the Martian Underground, the pink sea and the 8 bit world. I always visit them whenever I play Yume Nikki.Fangames, I love the realistic beach from 2kki, the Hospital from .Flow and lcddem rice fields.>>743208953Nothing too deep, I'm not feeling well recently so my dreams haven't been interesting, last thing I remember was an empty town resembling my birthplace, then I spoke with my ex-coworker who owes me money. I've been thinking about her a lot.
What environments would you like to see in a 3D Yume Nikki Fangame?
>>743218572Mars underground is also one of my favorites, there's the theory that mars-san is actually a Kikiyama self insert, he's the loneliest npc in the game (seemingly trapped too, mirroring mado) and its eye turns green when stabbed, as though it finds happiness with the idea of dying, supposedly.I've seen people relate the notion with the ending of the game, which makes me wonder if Kikiyama may have an hero'd shortly after releasing the last version. I also wonder if he saw Mado as some sort of self insert or a daughter like character of sorts.
>>743220089I wonder that myselfI'm toying with the idea of developing one in GoldSrc, just can't decide whether I want to stray too much from just walking/exploration or mix up the formula a bit with some puzzlan/light imsim elements (eg had idea for functional metro fast travel system but you need metro tokens to use it, or money to buy snack/drink to heal off damage from whatever light PVE the player might get into)obviously the core hook of exploring weird/dreamy places is gonna be front and center, but somehow I don't want to make just another walking sim YN-like but in 3D
>>743214446I adore the Checkered Tile Path. The aesthetics and OST just rub my autism the right way.
>>743220089Something like the Pandemonium games.
With the internet becoming pretty much a hellhole and this site kinda dying down, I've become a bit of an archive nut/lurker and recently decided to try and find archives of Aosora's art, but sadly it doesn't seem like anyone did a full archive before they took all their works down. So anyhow here's a rare Mado that probably hasn't been seen for years if not decades at this point.I also found an old abandoned yume booru that's still up which is basically a time capsule of pre-2013 Yume Nikki artworks.yume.booru.orgYes Yume Nikki archeology is a thing.
>>743199307because they got that melatonin shit in their skin
I realized that if you End Program in different areas, different things "bug" out as it closes. I haven't seen them all yet, but this one is definitely one of the more unsettling things that can happen.
>>743223978For reference, here's a mostly harmless one.Game is Nophenia, forgot to mention.
now that the dust has finally settled, what did /v/ think of dot flow?
>>743224080Still the best fangame.
>>743223978>>743224062Interesting. I still have no idea if the game is just...half complete or whether there's something more hidden. The "to be continued" annoyed me considering it's not tagged EA.
>>743224080The foggy piano still maintains a corner of my mind. I think about it unprompted somewhat regularly.I like that the game is actively scary, too.
>>743224231For now, I take it as "By selecting 'forget,' you are continuing the story by restarting it". There's a few theories floating around about the MC potentially killing someone/her alternate personality/attempted suicide (see pic) and takes antidepressants to forget it, and the end of the run is when the meds wear off.I also want to believe the phone's battery life plays a part in what stages you get transported to. I haven't confirmed it yet, but I think if you die with minimum battery life, you get sent to bad places like a meat realm based on the stage you died on or "???" before the game resets itself. There was also one where it was super, extra dark and I think Nophenia was headless. But it was too dark to confirm, and I couldn't even see where I was going. eventually, it sent me to ??? thankfully but that one was the most unnerving thing I've experienced
>>743224564I have an anecdotal weird report as well; I kept running down the eye test road towards the blimp repeatedly and the more I did that, the more eyes there were. Eventually the whole area became grayscale and next death just outright crashed the game.
>>743224809Now that you mention it, I did notice the number of eyes change on that level once, though it was when there was less than I was expecting instead of more. I've also seen eyes just not be present in other levels where they should be. Weird stuff.
>>743224946I think maybe the eyes are related to death count in some way, but I'm not sure. I've also been unable to reproduce the game going grayscale like that and crashing, so I think maybe this game has purely random events with very low probabilities.

>>743223152Here's another rare piece that I generally can't find anywhere else, I found these in the uboachan archive, it's honestly a shame that there are apparently no available /v/ archives for the late 2008 to 2016 period. The first Yume Nikki threads are preserved however, a single autistic anon posted it every day until /v/ liked it and apparently made the first ever translation as well, this was YN's first contact with the west.https://4museum-v.neocities.org/thread?id=12719997&date=2008-03-27&board=vSame anon tried posting on /jp/ a few days later but got utterly ignored though.https://warosu.org/jp/thread/351835Still, the /jp/ archives are probably the best available way to see how the fanbase surrounding the game was like back in the day, I wasn't really one of the ogs and joined late in the fanbase's lifespan.Found another funny thing, turns out the japs were hard, at work even all the way back in 2008, NSFW, too bad the mod was apparently lost even back then.https://youtu.be/meTLlwIfC5gthat video also apparently used a sample of Kikiyama's music that was considered lost media until around 6 years ago.https://youtu.be/T_G5tKfJSho

How would anons feel about a Worlds.com type online game where you explore simple 3D environments based on RPG Maker games, including Yume Nikki and YN fangames with other players? The idea is that the games would be interconnected with one another, so for example you could find yourself stepping into a .flow map from a Yume Nikki map or even other RPG Maker games that don't have anything to do with Yume Nikki. Your motivation for exploring is to unlock new avatars and emotes.I currently have a prototype of the game built, but part of me feels like it might be a bit redundant adding Yume Nikki content because of YNO and Yume Nikki 3D already existing. It sort of feels like I'm retreading ground.(Pic is not my game, it's just Yume Nikki 3D, but it's sort of similar)
>>743249324I think that roblox game (dream worlds was it called?) is probably the closest thing to what you're describing. It baaically sounds like YNO 2kki 3D (as bad as saying that sounds) since I assume there wouldn't be much cohesion between the worlds either and IMO the vanity would wear off relatively fast, players all over are very antisocial these days.
>>743249324>>743249729Sorry but yume nikki will forever be singleplayer no matter how much you going to glorify yume nikki with online dick whipping you will never make me play an online yume nikki gamei do have a yume nikki singleplayer project though but i won't share it

Speaking of artists throwing a fit, this is the last ever Aosora Mado I found, drawn sometime around the 2017 period iirc. I think they contributed to a YN collab manga but I haven't been able to find any archived translated or untranslated works that feature their art other than a cover yet.

>>743249729>>743250252Damn that bad huh.To be honest I wasn't really thinking of the multiplayer being the main appeal, it was more just a programming experiment to see if I could get some sort of online game working more than anything. The real draw of the game would just be the exploration through different areas.>since I assume there wouldn't be much cohesion between the worldsI'm trying to aim for some sort of cohesion, like the idea being that two similar/related places in two games being connected (Ex. The docks in Yume nikki allowing you to go "Underwater" to end up in .flow's underwater world, or something along those lines.)If it doesn't sound interesting though to Yume Nikki fans though then it's probably not worth including over other games.

>>743256159I think you may still be onto something, Nophenia is probably one of the best YN-like 3D adaptations out there, and it mostly does its own thing (it's a bit linear though). The younger folk really like liminal spaces these days, so making something for that crowd might not be too bad. I'd say if you want to go through with it, make your own content instead, maybe it can catch a small niche as well.>>743255243I found her twitter and she really just spends all day every day shitposting and blogging, though she barely gets any engagement, based anyhow.https://x.com/sle_etyHere's another rare mado.

>>743260510I agree that most of the smaller fangames + the og are better played alone, but I believe in 2kki's case it kinda works due to how stupidly huge it is and how unlikely you are to meet people otherwise, and fucking around with anons is fun. I generally try to avoid most of the YNOcord crowd and mute chat otherwise.
>>743208953Last night I had several dreams>I was sitting at a long wooden table in a room of "my house" with 7 other people who I recognised from real life, and we were having dinner. The food was a kind of ultra-tender pork that I remember thinking was delicious, along with some indistinct green vegetables>having a shower in a room that was too small to be realistic - my head was against the ceiling, however the showerhead was one of those detachable hose ones, and was oversized (about the diameter of a lunch plate). It had some really good water flow and I enjoyed it a lot.>I was in the audience at a wooden hall, attending either a play or an orchestra performance (the dream couldn't decide and it had elements of both). and here's a fun fact about dream diary I found out while exploring the room, mado doesn't stink, but she uses bootleg H&S shampoo, it even still has blurry spanish text in there I believe, I checked it in game and it's the same texture, you can't make this shit up.

>>743274935For the sake of this site I hope this is bait.
>>743275189>>743275149>>743275113Funny how I never see any threads on OFF or Lisa the painful. I've been seeing quite a few of these though.
>>743274935its just one mod with a vendetta
>>743275304Then go make one, no one is stopping you. This is one of the slowest threads on this board.I seriously hope you're larping.
>>743275379Keenly aware. I'm happy that you people can actually enjoy your own threads. But God damn it 90% of this board is just pure trash.
>>743275304rpgmaker threads are dominated by dl-site fappers usually, look outside gets talked about lately thougheverbeitasitmayy
>>743275435YN threads have long been a sort of quiet fixture on /v/, though I thinking forcing them more than once a month greatly dilutes the appeal.
>>743275707I think there's just somehow been a spike in activity around the fandom, I do stick around to give these threads a bump or two but I keep just finding these threads in the wild. I also just lurk other threads in the meantime. Also /v/ is so slow these days these threads can survive overnight. It's not that we discuss too much or that we're forcing it, we've just been able to survive for longer and we've been sorta picking up some small momentum here.
>>743275435we're actually suffering because these threads are getting attacked by a bot and the jannies haven't paid attention to it.
>>743274935>So why is there allowed to be repetitive Yume threads but Deltarune gets shut down immediately.Yume Nikki gets a thread every few days which don't even always hit the bump limit.Deltarune has had 2-3 threads up at all times since Chapter 5 released which hit the bump limit in like 3 hours before they started to get banned, and I know that because I was in a good amount of them. You can be upset about threads getting deleted but don't you even fucking dare act like the two of these are the same.
>>743276128Too busy killing threads with actual discussion.
>>743275707i'm worried about that too especially now that some schizo is (badly) trying to derail but at the same time i do agree a bit with the other anon that maybe /v/ slowing down as much as it has caused some sort of spike in activity here alongside june being the birthday month, maybe there should be longer waits but i'm not the one making these nor should i say other random anons should stop making these when the board is crowded by much worse usually. the panel de pon thread that lasted 5 days or so with basically no schizo activity may be a sign it's slightly healing but the cancer in this board is buried deep
moodnot that I want to turn this into a screencap thread I just find it fitting given that we're always posting her art here
>>743277396Honestly I like the idea of a slower /v/, more niche games that don't generally survive in other boards are getting a bunch of good discussion.Part of me believes the low speed of the board is also a factor of the incessant deltarune discussion, those threads have become a sort of singularity of autism (it's like they're genuinely under a spell) and people who would usually start threads are just discussing Deltarune nonstop. It's kind of a weird situation we find ourselves in. I also find that the more free/anonymous internet is on its way out, everyone else's just being absorbed into the hivemind these days.
>>743279417>everyone else's just being absorbed into the hivemind these daysPersonally, I pray for that just so there'd be less people here and the slower times when threads could regularly survive a few days would return. There's a Goldilocks zone between "board that's so active that no one attempts to post anything of value since threads die too fast" and "board so dead that threads from years ago are still up" that I yearn for.
>>743279417yeah i like /v/ slowing down again, i just dislike that it seems that more regular posters are leaving which leaves the mentally ill to sperg out and derail more (though depending on the thread i do see them get ignored more). i don't browse deltarune threads cause i never cared for it or undertale but there are threads that i feel a similar way to how you do with them. like the other anon said it should hot a sweet spot and i feel we're decently close to it.>I also find that the more free/anonymous internet is on its way out, everyone else's just being absorbed into the hivemind these days.this too, i don't think imageboards will ever fully die (rip forums though) but shit like discord, twitter and reddit entice people more despite all of them being cesspools (especially for children but that's the fault of the parents and companies wanting it to be watered down to be safe). seeing posts about anons saying twitter is better than here in stuff like meta threads saddens me.
>>743220559What sort of PVE?
>>743280551>seeing posts about anons saying twitter is better than here in stuff like meta threads saddens me.part of me hopes these are just the covid/election tourists fucking off, the site's had unnatural activity since then but what we're seeing now seems to be the expected natural decline, I personally celebrate the reduced activity. I think the posters that derail threads might be something else, we recently discovered that you-know-who's replies are most likely botted, and multiple other anons keep saying their threads get derailed in similar ways, they glow too much imo, it feels like the site is under a focused demoralization campaign.
most of the time i can't dream anythingrecent dreams were about people mocking me or trying to kill mei don't think i ever had good dreams
>>743281000 checking the trips with three nikkersa lot of the worse aspects do seem to be slightly going down too like twitter screencap threads which seem to be locked now to mostly consolewar threads which can be another example of autism singularities, it just might take a long while to heal unless something attracts another mass of tourists.>spoileri was gonna bring that post up but i thought i was getting close to word limit, some of those bad eggs might be real but i am inclined to agree that something is very unnatural, like when they spam their favorite buzzwords or especially when sometimes their argument is with an obvious AI picture. that one general's ripples are gonna be felt for years even after they smartened up and started deleting them.>>743281256i usually recall nightmares but i rarely get those, should get a dream diary so i can remember some of my dreams.

>>743289154>>743289429>De I Cide is a traditional Japanese Yume Nikki fangame with a twist made by Saki-Izuriha in RPG Maker 2000. This game features mostly dark and disturbing themes and has a rather unusual soundtrack, consisting of metal and trance tracks in contrast to calm piano music. It stars a girl with messy hair named Inahoozuki and a silver haired child named Ginmokusei. The latest version is Version SEVEN (VII). This seems right up my alley. Hope the English version downloads work.

>>743208953Ive had a dream diary (heh) for a while now where Ive written down most of the dreams Ive had since 2023. Would recommend it to everyone since it lets me remember a lot more and dream more in general.
>>743208953I don't often remember my dreams but when I do they are generally quite crazy. The secret for powerful dreams is melatonin and benadryl although I don't need them to have strong dreams. My most memorable dreams were had without any drugs in fact. The problem with benadryl is that your body develops a tolerance rather quickly so you just have to use it sparingly.Anyway my craziest recent dream was sort of in the style of The Beatles Cartoon but more detailed and everything was very saturated and it had a grainy old TV look to it. Just a very psychadelic 1960s look to everything but in the most cartoony colorful way possible kind of reminiscent of old cereal commercials. The Otter Pops aesthetic is also similar. The setting wasn't the ocean but a zigzaggy river/canal through a jungle and at a certain point there was a bay.The dream was focused around these giant whale like creatures but they were also sort of human and each one had a mostly monochrome color scheme. I remember there was a blue one, a lime green one, and a magenta one. They all had sort of a "captain" aesthetic in that Beatles Sgt. Pepper way or kind of like Captain Crunch. They were sort of half wearing clothes the way a whale might and had hats. Anyway they were massive like bigger than a blue whale and extremely scary and creepy in a way that's hard to describe. Something about the overly cartoony nature of them combined with their size and human-ness. I was in the water with them which made it much scarier as well. Although often in my dreams I just leave my body and see things like scenes from a movie i.e. they can just go into a bird's eye perspective. The storyline is often one of the hardest things for me to remember from my dreams and this one is the same. All I know is that it centered around the bay. The whales were trying to get to it or leave it or the humans citizens were trying to get them out of it or something like that.
>>743290559Oh yeah it also reminded me of the Disney animated Alice in Wonderland specifically the caterpillar and the walrus parts. It was a real dream sort of dream.
>was told this was a dark and dreary game like .flow>open my first world>DUDE OUTER SPACE LMAOI got my first effect here... and it's just spinning and moonwalking like a retarded Michael Jackson. Okay?
I only have dreams maybe 3 or 4 times a year and it's always some kind of an apocalypse like the world is flooding or burning or flattening into 2d or meteor shower destroying the Earth or everything becoming monochrome or a giant black triangle sucks in all around it, but i'm never scared, i'm always confident that i'm just a spectator.
>>743292860Is it metal, though?

>>743300575I had a few again>dreamed I was playing a top-down action RPG in the visual style of Torchlight. The Embermage's Prismatic Bolt skill from Torchlight 2 was the main attack. There were many different resources, Path of Exile style, and a realtime expedition minigame that returned resources (the timers in the dream were for 1h 30m, but there were mechanics to make them longer)I used to play a lot of those sorts of games so they're still dinging around in my head, I guess>another dream featured a dreary hotel from a 3/4 top-down perspective, with me and three or four other indistinct characters. Even within the dream I got the impression of Icewind Dale's art style. I had "previously" been checked into room 9 and had the room key, but initially went to the wrong door. Noticing the fog of war was cleared on the other side of the floor, I concluded room 9 was over there instead. As I walked towards the door I got Infinity Engine style popup messages (white text on transparent black background) alluding to the corridor not being quite right, and as I approached the door a bunch of ghostly people appeared from the walls of the corridor and started punching me and the people with me, dealing Morrowind-style fatigue damage but not actually harming us. I kept getting harmlessly knocked over until eventually the dream ended. It sounds a lot worse in text than it was actually experiencing it. The perspective, art and lack of any actual pain/health reduction made it annoying more than anything.>a mini dream featuring 3d glasses. I was in my real life loungeroom examining several sets of 3d glasses. There were a couple of red/blue sets and a polarization set. I asked someone in the room about the price of them, but the only answer I remember is that they said the polarization-based ones were $95 per lens.My dream subconscious must have had vidya on the mind.

Anyone who keeps a dream diary ever try putting in a brief description of a dream and where it took place into AI to see what kind of imagery it spits out? The hallucinations most AI does lends itself well to dreamlike imagery.
>>7433076372kki is fun to look at even as someone that mainly plays older versions before the western dev boom and seeing how the game evolved (even if like you said for better or worse, even just looking at the game for every good new world there's one with barely any effort).i think the snack collection is cute, nice evolution of YN's vending machines plus uro dreaming of getting some random bullshit from a vending machine is cute, but the masks while also neat do kind of feel like something for the YNO crowd (not sure if masks or YNO were first but it still slightly rubs me).

Considering Uro actually owns a bike IRL AND she most likely has the required drivers license in order to use it, we can assume that she's of legal age. Mado's age is a bit more ambiguous but she's either a dropout or graduated at some point without plans for college.Yuri between the two would potentially be legal and produce no charges for either party involved, Uro would be on top.

Went to the next world, this was the first one that was actually fairly creepy. The music sounds like a zombie panting, there's blood everywhere and bloody crosses, and every once in a while this bloody handprint jumpscares you with some faggot's laugh.
Le ebin Monoko reference.
This world looks like something between a church and an art gallery with those stained glass windows and rose patterns.Oh hey, I'm a goth loli now.
Did I mention that this game lets you save anywhere? Supposedly it was implemented because of some game-crashing bugs in the earlier builds. Another something this game has over other Yumelikes is... wait for it... a fast forward button. You can speed up the game by 3x or 10x, it makes traveling so much faster. It does make me wonder if there's going to be a Bike equivalent in this game, though, because "travel faster" is basically the Bike's whole reason for existing.
Also, I'm getting a lot of "Image Not Found" errors in the game, apparently some fx is failing to load or not existing at all. Is this a problem with the game itself being unfinished, or is it with me? I'm using the latest version of EasyRPG.

>>743331821That usually means you didn't configure the RTP correctly. If you're on Windows, just installing it is good enough. On Linux, it searches $WINEPREFIX for an installed RTP or consults the environment variables RPG2K_RTP_PATH and RPG2K3_RTP_PATH.
>>743353632the zeitgeist surrounding that fanbase killed the niche aspect of indie fanbases, it's why most of the art we post here is at least 13 years old.
>>743353683I am a Luddite. What the fuck is an RTP and what do I have to install to fix this shit? I thought EasyRPG was supposed to make this, well, easy.
>>743353827https://rpgmakerofficial.com/support/rtp/https://www.rpgmakerweb.com/run-time-packageInstall your fucking RTPs, newfag.
>>743353894Okay, which one do I install? I assume DE I CIDE is running on RPGMaker 2000 or 2003.
>>743353996You should probably just install both the 2000 and 2003 RTPs and make your life easier in the future. If you use exclusively EasyRPG, you don't need both the Japanese and English RTPs since it contains logic to translate the RTP filenames between Japanese and English unlike the official runtime, but if you ever need to run a game on the official runtime then you may need to install both the Japanese and English RTPs depending on what the game uses.
>>743354127So I just need the English RTPs? Or are the Japanese ones better?
>>743354232nta but literally install both, since I believe you're using an untranslated version of the game you will need the japanese RTP.
>>743354281No, I'm using HimeNikki's English translation of Version TREY.
>>743354232There is no actual functional difference between the two aside from the filenames being in Japanese or English. As stated, if you're using EasyRPG, it can use either RTP with both Japanese and English games. The official RPG_RT.exe cannot and Japanese games will need the Japanese RTP, while English games need the English RTP.
>>743353757it's not even just indie games (though that got hit BAD by it), like 99% of franchises i like i end up seeing some schmuck bring up how the genre reminds them of those games or how random character reminds them of random toby character because shocking personality stereotypes are a thing in media (granted that's not the worst, obviously comparisons are going to happen no matter what media, but i feel i've seen those fans immediately dump the entire character bible and half the shit they've done in some giant textwall instead of trying to reign back though i'm being slightly hypocritical since i also end up making way too big posts on games i enjoy, but i try to keep it in threads on stuff i enjoy with like-minded anons instead of some random other thread).i understand it is usually a younger crowd but it is still an annoyance.>>743353827other anon's already given you the rundown but runtime package, should be pretty simple to figure out.

>>743354731The Japanese ones need to be installed in Japanese locale or you'll get broken filenames. If you're on Linux, open a terminal and do LC_ALL=ja_JP.utf8 wine setup.exe or the like. On Windows, you need to use locale emulator or change the system non-unicode locale to Japanese (codepage 932)But as stated, if you're using EasyRPG, just one of them is enough.
>>743354794>But as stated, if you're using EasyRPG, just one of them is enough.Thank God. I heard about the whole locale issue for these games, but I'd really rather not change my system's whole locale to play a Japanese indie walking sim just to find out how many other things only work on an English locale.
>>743331821>>743331879>>743354794Installing those RTP packages seems to have solved my problem. The levels and animations now load properly. Thank you. Also, Angel seems to be this game's Knife/Iron Pipe equivalent for killing NPCs, except you kill them with a fucking bolt of lightning. Cool!

Snowball is... definitely on the stranger side of effects here. You turn into a snowball with a head that can roll around. >>743357410You're making me want to play Dei I Cide, anon.
I had to pinch myself to escape that trap. Now killing this Lock Girl summons a blue Cross Guy who traps me in some closed off area like a typical Yume Nikki Toraningen or Kaibutsu if he catches me.
This game seemingly just got a lot more interesting. Those worlds I went through, aside from one, weren't really creepy. Compared to something like .flow which hits you in the face immediately with its gritty, dreary vibes, this game seemed tame. But in one of the worlds, there are portals to a "dark world", a darker version of Inahoozuki's Dream World, which if you backtrack a bit leads to a Dark Nexus with a locked door in the middle which I assume unlocking which is the goal of killing those Lock Girls, and doors to darker versions of the normal worlds.
>>743357985For example, I just revisited the Space World, and instead of WOOO OUTER SPACE, now it's a fucking occult moon-themed world with a fucking blood moon in the background.
On top of this, there seems to be an entrance to a new area here, whereas the "light' version of this world was pretty empty aside from a single useless effect.Yeah, this game seems to have been hiding a lot beneath the surface. Cool!
>>743199307I wish I was a chronic eeper but I'm old and have a job and get about 5 hours a sleep a day on average because I want to use my free time as much as I can...
The power to REEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!
>>743358301It cracks the screen when you do it, too, almost like Inahoozuki is screaming holes in reality itself.
There are areas I can't seem to go, blocking me with red static. I assume these are going to be similar to .flow's rooms/areas that can only be accessed when Sabitsuki collects and discards all effects to become Rust.
The center door in the Dark Nexus gives the same response, only it then shows a number which I assume is the number of Lock Girls left that I need to kill to open it.
That's it for now. In Inahoozuki's room in the "real world", there's a message written in blood on the wall of her room, which seems to say "THE TRUTH IS I'M ______", with the last word blocked out. I'm guessing this is going to be related to the major reveal of what's behind that door in the Dark Nexus.

>>743365849It's an indie walking sim that came out 10 years before that was in vogue. It's also one of the best lucid dream exploration games ever conceived if you're patient. It's absolutely worth trying, but it's not for all tastes.
>>743365849It's a spiritual successor to LSD Dream Emulator. It's barely a game and borderline an art piece, collage of music and pixel arts. Whenever it's good really depends on what you are expecting. That being said, fuckton of game developers, musicians and artists got inspired by it's vibes, style, music and so. Games like LISA, Undertale, Everhood, One Shot, Omori even DDLC and FAITH directly reference YN or their developers claimed they were inspired by YN when making them.If you want to get into it, I would recommend to take it easy and play it at your own pace, immerse yourself and explore worlds. Do not look up guide, unless you really think you've seen everything and still haven't found/figured out the end. Steam version is ok AFAIK, but if you find yourself enjoying the experience you will probably want local set up with EasyRPG or visit https://ynoproject.net/ for online versions. The latter can be very useful if you just want to hop in without downloading or want to play 2kki in best experience, but it is recommended you turn off the multiplayer features(except maybe for 2kki itself) as to not lose the original, intended experience these games are supposed to offer.

>>743390347What I mean by half-baked translation is that I took the V2 JP and EN (V3 JP is impossible to find), then did a delta of the two and generated po files using easyrpg's lcftrans tool and then used lcftrans to upgrade from V2 to V7.This did not work very well, about 15% of the text was changed and there's now 50% more text, some of which is hard-translated images.

>>743404652These posts are high quality I feel like it's such a niche game your thread probably wouldn't survive for long, and starting another Yume Nikki thread right away would just get us deleted for being an actual general (and it would also die otherwise).Maybe we COULD move to a general, but we'd be too slow for /vg/ imo, but we do technically fit the bill for /vm/ because of YNO (ironically we aren't considered RPG enough for /vrpg/), a few threads I lurk there will go for multiple days without posts and not move more than 2 pages. Someone is clearly into punkish menhera girls (or is one herself).
>>>/vm/2726495Here's the /vm/ general I just made, should remain up for a long while, don't worry about the theme of the board, you can post about singleplayer playthroughs and random fandom stuff/theories whenever, the jannies are very lenient there (if there are any).
>>743289986>the latest English version is for version fucking THREE.Is it not Version Six? I googled it and found an english download for "Ver Sice" on the yumenikkifg fandom wiki.
>>743410710I got it from here.https://ynfg.yume.wiki/De_I_Cide#TranslationsVer. SICE is only listed as having a Chinese translation there.
>>743410827>2014crazy that you've been playing a super old version all this time vs the latest update. Is there entirely too much text for it to be unplayable in japanese?
>>743410974I don't know. The endings could be text-heavy for all I know.
>>743410395>>>/vm/2726495>>>/vm/2726495>>>/vm/2726495General that should remain up for a while even if nobody posts there, an experiment for the time being.
