I love Fatal Fury. I love the direction of the game and would love for this to end up being the vision they wanted, the "ultimate Fatal Fury" game by fine tuning it and adding in more and more content. I love that they are funded by people who care more about developing the game than the profit the game is making because they're clearly losing money on this, compare this to Mortal Kombat who across several games has a ton of cancelled DLC including stuff that was announced.I don't care if the game never becomes popular for the mainstream or even a lot of the fighting game community. I will be here for however many seasons they develop the game because I fucking love Fatal Fury. For any would be larpers in the room, AOF3 is basically Tekken before Tekken. A lot of normals and moves are done with directional buttons and certain inputs, though there's no combination move buttons like VF or Tekken. As far as I know, no other 2D fighter has done this, on top of having command specials as well. This alone could make for a more "intricate" fighting game that would capture normie attention since they like technicality over flashiness. As well, the Spirit system in AOF3 is also unique in that it's something you can build by "stealing" from the opponent by taunting them. I think the idea of managing your resource while also being able to dictate the opponents could be an incredibly standout mechanic, but keeping it as simple and poorly thought out as 3's would lead to people calling it cheap and boring. Maybe something like a strike-throw-block triangle where you have to choose between getting a combo in vs stealing spirit vs gaining spirit. On top of that, the notion of managing your meter usage to increase the strength of specials is also unique and would make combat even more interesting, and basically a soft EX gauge more than anything that can be filled in the right moments. I think it has a shot if they flesh it out with more detail. What's really important is this: how will SNK fuck it up?

Dudes who dump super on every interaction and dudes who're trying to save it for as long as possible.If a micro cheat under this context is perfect inputs scripts, and a meso cheat is like an input reader that tells you your opponent buffered a frame trap, a macro cheat would be like a hack that gives you slightly more meter gen. Maybe I'm misunderstanding this but I think the more common scenario of blocking players who beat you and only rematching winning games in SF6 ranked ladder also qualifies as a macro cheat.

Execution is generally pretty easy even though MBTL filters a lot of modern players but it's not that bad and the older titles were very easy to execute for their time so it's not a micro game. Match up knowledge isn't very significant in the meta-game so much as your ability to run your own game plan and adapt on the fly so it's not a meso game. The games are very much about how you manage resources and come up with plans.
