On top of that exploring her motivations would be geniunely intriguing (assuming that she's not brainwashed) because of how bizzare the prospect of having a random teenager become a powerful dark entity that willingly enacts bizzare schizo acts is. The question of "why would Dess do this" was always more interesting than finding out that the knight was actually someone else.
